RESOLUTION ON HORRIFIC DEATH OF MST. FAKHRA YOUNUS AND DEMANDS JUSTICE FOR HER, AND FOR ALL THE OTHER VICTIMS OF ACID CRIMES

This Joint Sitting of the Senate and the National Assembly expresses deep sorrow at the horrific death of Mst. Fakhra Younus and demands justice for her, and for all the other victims of acid crimes.

We demands that those culprits who defaced Mst. Fakhra and ruined her life be identified and punished forthwith and a transparent enquiry be ordered as to why the culprits were not earlier identified or punished.

This House calls upon the government to review the criminal justice system and remove the legal lacunae that makes easy acquittals possible in such brutal crimes.
This House strongly recommends that a comprehensive and dedicated law on acid crimes be passed at the Federal and / or Provincial levels.

It further asserts that the Federal and Provincial Governments must commit to provide a fully funded treatment, health care and rehabilitation programme for the victims of acid crimes.
