A meeting of the Members of Pak-EU PFG with the deputy head of the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan took place at the National Assembly Secretariat

The deputy head of the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan, Mr Thomas Seiler and Head of the Political, Trade and Communication Section, Mr. Daniel Clauss met with the Members of Pak-EU PFG today, October 21, 2021 at 1400 hours at Parliament House, Islamabad.

During the meeting, implementation of GSP Plus, issues hampering trade and investment, improving the business climate and enhanced bilateral cooperation with EU, remained the focus of discussion. A joint Report to the European Parliament and the Council was also shared with the members of Pak-EU PFG.
Ms, Shandana Gulzar Khan, MNA and Convener Pak-EU Parliamentary Friendship Group said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with the European Union and would like to further strengthen through collaboration in diverse sectors.

Mr. Thomas Seiler informed that the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for a review of trade relations with Pakistan for the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) status.

During the discussion on democracy, good governance, rule of law, promotion and protection of human rights, labor rights, and fundamental freedom, the two sides reaffirmed their strong support for democratic institutions.
