A Four-Member Indonesian Delegation Calls on Deputy Speaker, National Assembly

Islamabad; May 3, 2012: A 4-Member Indonesian Parliamentary delegation headed by Chairman of Bilateral Cooperation Group Mohammad Hatta called on Deputy Speaker, National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi in Parliament House today.

Talking to members of the delegation the Deputy Speaker said that Pakistan and Indonesia were tied in the eternal bond of religion and fraternity and both the countries have unanimity of views on regional and global issues. He said that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Indonesia and wanted to further cemented the existing bilateral relations through enhanced parliamentary interactions and economic cooperation. He said that the parliamentarians of the both the countries could play a vital role in strengthening the bilateral relations and to bring the two brotherly country further closer. The Deputy Speaker said that frequent exchanges will provide opportunity to members of the both the parliament to exchange of views and learn from experiences of each other. He also underlined the need for enhanced economic cooperation between the two countries. He said that both the countries have vast economical potentials which could be utilized for welfare of the peoples of both the countries.

The Deputy Speaker also apprised the delegation about the formation functioning and organizational setup of the National Assembly and its Standing Committees. He said that the present Parliament had passed the record number of legislation including the three constitutional amendments. He said that the most of the Bills passed with consensus.

The head of the delegation Mohammad Hatta said that Indonesia values high its relations with Pakistan. He said that the Indonesia wanted to see Pakistan more stronger and prospers. He also underlined the need of frequent Parliamentary exchanges. He said that frequent Parliamentary delegation will create better understanding between the parliamentarians of both the countries. He also apprised the Deputy Speaker about the parliamentary system in Indonesia. Besides the member of the delegation, Sheikh Waqqas Akram, Minister of State, MNAs Noor Alam Khan, Usman Khan Tarakai and Akhunzada Chitan, were also present on the occasion. Later Deputy Speaker hosted a luncheon in the honour of delegation.
