A Group of Students of London School of Economics Call on Deputy Speaker

Islamabad; March 27, 2014:  The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi has said that Pakistani youth were highly talented, competent and hardworking and they have proved their abilities across the globe.  He expressed these views while talking to a group of students of London School of Economics who called on him in Parliament House today.

The Deputy Speaker said that democracy in Pakistan was gaining strength and democratic institutions in the country were functioning smoothly. He said that incumbent Government has set its priorities for the welfare of the people of the country. He said that provision of education, health care and social amentias were the top priorities of the government. He apprised the students about the constitutional history of Parliament as well as working and functioning of the National Assembly and its standing committees. He said that the standing committees are important organs of the Parliament and play vital role in legislation, besides over sighting the policies of concerned Ministries. He also appreciated the contributions of overseas Pakistanis for the development and progress of the country.

The students of London College of Economics took keen interest in legislative procedure and posed various questions about the working and functioning of National Assembly.  Later on they also witness the proceedings of the House.
