Islamabad, 10th February, 2021; The Standing Committee on Narcotics Control met today in Auditorium of Anti Narcotics Force Academy, H-11, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Salahuddin Ayubi, MNA to discuss the performance of ANF.

2.    The Committee expressed its grave concern over the rapid growth of drug activities across the country especially in educational institutions as ANF and other agencies seemed to be harmless to initiate any action against the influenced drug mafias due to lack of men-power and financial constraints. The Committee urged upon the need for introduction of effective legislation to develop proper liaisons amongst the Ministries/ departments working to prevent the nation from the curse of drugs.

3.    The Committee directed that ANF may come up with the proposals to enhance its performance so that Committee could take them at appropriate forum for their amicable solution. The Committee decided to hold its next meetings in all provinces of the country to finalize proposals in consultation with all Chief Ministers and IGs to find out its remedial solution.

4.    Earlier, Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control briefly apprised the Committee about the efforts made by them to stop the drug activities in the country and problems faced by them in this regard. He admitted that it is difficult rather impossible for them to confront with drug mafias without the support of other agencies working on parallel ground. They sought support of the Committee in resolving their issues.

5.    The following Members/MNAs namely, Mr. Gul Dad Khan, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan, Mr. Mohsin Dawar, Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali Bhindar, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Mr. Ehsanullah Reki, Ms. Uzma Riaz, Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali, Ms. Nuzhat Pathan, Ms. Andleep Abbas and representatives of Ministry and attached department attended the meeting.
