Islamabad (11 February 2019) All affairs will be dealt with unanimously and in the best interest of the Nation. These views were shared in the meeting of the Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony. The first meeting of the Standing Committee, to elect its Chairman, was held in the Parliament House this evening. The meeting was started, as per Assembly practice, with the recitation of the Holy Quran. In the beginning, the Special Secretary, National Assembly Secretariat, Mr. Qamar Sohail Lodhi explained the purpose of the meeting and elucidated the process of the election of the Chairman of the Committee. He announced the result of the election of the Chairman after the conclusion of the election. According to the details, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, MNA proposed the name of Mr. Asad Mehmood, MNA for the Chairmanship of the Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony. Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali, MNA seconded the proposal of Ms. Shagufta Jumani. Thereafter, all of the members of the Standing Committee seconded the proposal. No other name of any member was proposed by any other member. Hence, Mr. Asad Mehmood, MNA was elected as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony, unanimously. All of the Members of the Committee congratulated Mr. Asad Mehmood and assured him for full cooperation in the best interest of the Nation. The Members of the committee showed their concerns upon the increased Hajj expenditures. So, it was decided that next meeting would be held to discuss the issue of Increased Hajj Expenditures. The Chairman called next meeting of the Committee on 20-02-2019.
 
The meeting was attended by the Honourable Members National Assembly including Sahibzada Sibghatullah, Mr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Prince Muhammad Nawaz Allai, Mr. Mujahid Ali, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Raja Riaz Ahmed, Mr. Aftab Jehangir, Ms. Shunila Ruth, Chaudhry Faqir Ahmad, Begum Tahira Bokhari, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, Mr. Kesoo Mal Kheeal Das, Mr. Mahar Irshad Ahmad Khan, Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jillani, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Mr. Asad Mehmood and Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali. In Addition, Honourable Chief Whip Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, MNA was also present in the meeting.
