National Assembly Standing Committee on M/o Human Rights meets today

Islamabad, the 18th January, 2018.  36th meeting of the Standing Committee on M/o Human Rights met today at 10:30 am in the Committee Room No. 07, 4th Floor, Parliament House, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Babar Nawaz Khan, MNA.

The meeting commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. It was decided by the Committee to confirm the minutes of the previous meeting which was held on 9th January, 2018 in its next meeting.

The issue of the Protection against Harassment of Women at Work places (Amendment)Bill, 2017 was discussed in the meeting. The Committee unanimously rejected the Bill by consulting the same with the Members of the Committee, Mover of the Bill, Chairperson, Federal Ombudsmen Secretariat for the Bill and representative of the Law and Justice Division.

The Committee was given briefing by the Additional Chief Secretary, Punjab, Additional Inspector General Police, Punjab and District Police Officer, Kasur on the painful incident of Kasur due to sensitivity of the issue. Some certain questions were raised by the Committee Members. The Committee was assured that the culprit of the incident will be arrested within two weeks of time. Then the instant agenda of the meeting was deferred due to session of the National Assembly and decided to call it again on the same agenda.

The meeting was attended by Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqub, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Ms. Surriya Asghar, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Ms. Kiran Haider, Ms. Amra Khan, Ms. Musarat Rafique Mahesar,     Ms. Munaza Hassan, Ms. Phyllis Azeem, Ms. Asiya Naz Tanoli, Mr. Sajid Nawaz ,Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Ms. Kishwer Zehra, Naseema Hafeez Panezai, MNAs, Mover of the Bill (Dr. Fouzia Hameed, MNA) and officials of the Ministry of Human Rights and Provincial Government of the Punjab.
