Islamabad, the 3rd January, 2018: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training met today in Conference Room of International Islamic University, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Col. (Retd) Dr. Amirullah Marwat, MNA. The Rector, International Islamic University, Islamabad comprehensively briefed the Committee over the performance, achievements, mission and futuristic vision of the university. He informed that this is the only International University in Pakistan where 2400 foreign students out of 30,000 students from different countries are getting education from this university. After briefing, the Committee recommended that the universities alongwith other subjects also should focus on character building of students which is the need of the hour. The Committee further recommended that the International Islamic University should construct additional hostels for male students within the precincts of the university as many male students are forced to leave in private hostels outside the university.

2.         The Committee was also briefed by the Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Azam University over the illegal encroachment of the university land by the influential and land mafia. The Committee showed its great concern over the encroachment by the land mafia and recommended that in next meeting, the Chairman CDA, Commissioner/Deputy Commissioner ICT, Revenue Department, Islamabad would be invited in the meeting to discuss the said issue.

3.         The meeting was attended by Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Ms. Rida Khan, Ms. Phyllis Azeem, Chaudhary Hamid Hameed, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Ms. Shahida Rehmani, Dr. Imran Khattak, Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali, Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai and Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui MNAs and Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training and Officers/Officials of the Ministry and its attached departments.
