N.A. Standing Committee on SAFRON meets

Islamabad, the 24th October, 2017: A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) met today in Committee Room of Ministry of SAFRON, “S” Block, Pak Secretariat, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Jamal ud Din, MNA. The Committee reconsidered “The Rulers of Acceding States (Abolition of Privy Purses and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2017” and passed the same unanimously.

2.         While briefing the Committee on the Schedule of New Expenditures (SNE’s), informed that SNEs proposals for creation of 2292 posts of different Departments/Directorates had been prioritized and recommended in the meeting held on 16th October, 2017 in SAFRON Division in the first phase in the current Financial year. In this regard the Committee was further informed that a meeting has been convened tomorrow in SAFRON Division to finalize the prioritized SNEs proposal for creation of 2292 posts of different departments of FATA. The Committee recommended that the Ministry of SAFRON, Finance Division and FATA Secretariat finalize the SNEs proposals for creation of 2292 posts on priority basis as the SNEs proposals pending since long.

3.         The Committee was further informed while giving briefing on the issue of hiring of non locals in FATA that all the concerned authorities (Development Partners and Implementing Partners) have already been issued instructions through various correspondences from time to time to hire number of employees belonging to FATA. The Committee observed that the NGOs working in FATA are still hiring non locals instead of the recommendations of the Committee. The Committee further recommended that ensure 100% employment of locals of FATA on non technical posts in FATA as the unemployment is on peak in FATA due to the militancy.    

4.         The meeting was also attended by Mr. Muhammad Nazir Khan, Ms. Iffat Liaquat, Dr. Asma Mamdot, Mr. Qaiser Jamal, Mr. Nasir Khan, Mr. Muhammad Kamal Malik and Sahibazda Tariq Ullah MNAs and Minister for States and Frontier Regions and Officers/Officials of the Ministry.
