Tharparker, the 20^th October, 2017:  The Meeting / visits of the Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research was held today at 10:30 a.m.at Pakistan Council of Research Water Resources, field station, Mithi, Tharparker under the chairmanship of Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, MNA.

2.         The Director Incharge, Pakistan Council of Research and Water Resources (PCRWR) briefed the Committee about the creation and functioning of the Department. He informed that the Department is working to carry out a comprehensive survey to document the existing status of water resources management and agriculture activities.  He also informed that the project purpose is to identify fresh groundwater pocket in Thar area using geophysical method and also to develop and modify existing rainwater harvesting techniques.

3.         The Committee appreciated the efforts made by the PCRWR and recommended for more improvement and efficiency in the project. The Committee recommended that Ministry may provide more funds to PCRWR for the enhancement of the project.

4.         The Committee visited various sections of PCRWR, Check Dam for Rain Water Harvesting, Nangarparker and Thar Coal Project, Chachro.

5.         Chaudhary Nazeer Ahmad, Rao Muhammad Ajmal Khan, and Faqir Sher Muhammad Bilalani MNAs attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by senior officers of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and its attached departments.
