A meeting of the Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination was held today in the Committee Room of National Institute of Health, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, MNA, to consider “The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016, moved by Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, MNA and “The Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health (Amendment) Bill, 2017”, introduced by Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA.
 

2.        The Committee deferred the “The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016, moved by Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, MNA Bill; as Mover of the Bill was not present in the meeting.
 

3.        The Committee also deferred “The Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health (Amendment) Bill, 2017”, introduced by Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA; due to absence of representatives of Tobacco industry.
 

4. The Committee shown serious contentious over the abortion issues existing in Pakistan. Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Ms.Saira Afzal Tarar disclosed before the Committee that District Islamabad is in very miserable condition regarding health services and issues. The Committee appreciated the acknowledgment of the Minister in this regard and strongly recommended that for the purpose of District Islamabad, health services and issues may be bring under the umbrella of Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination for better solutions of health issues.
 

5.        MNAs, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Ms. Shakila Khalid Luqman, Ms. Shaista Pervaiz, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Col. (Retd.) Dr. Amirullah Marwat and Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan attended the meeting.
