Islamabad, the 10th July 2017: The Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development met today under the acting chairmanship of Sheikh Salahuddin, MNA, as the Chairman Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis Mir Aamir Ali Khan Magsi was abroad.

2.         The representative of M/o Law & Justice informed the Committee that the Bills, “the Domestic Workers (Employment Rights) Bill, 2016” (moved by Dr.Azra Fazal Pechuho MNA), “the Employment of Children (Amendment) Bill, 2016” (moved by Ms.Aliya Kamran, MNA) and “the Children (Pledging of Labour) (Amendment) Bill, 2017” (moved by Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA) fall under the ambit of M/o Interior. Therefore, the Committee referred the said Bills to the M/o Interior.

3.         The Committee discussed “the Emigration (Amendment) Bill, 2017” moved by Dr. Shazia Sobia, MNA in detail. The Secretary M/o OP & HRD assured the Committee that the proposals of honourable MNAs would be incorporated in another Government Bill, which is under consideration in the Ministry.

4.         The Committee was informed by Employment Old Age Benefits Institute (EOBI) that the FIA started 18 inquiries, out of which 16 cases were registered by lodging FIRs against the private individuals and officials involved in the transactions including Mr. Zafar Iqbal Gondal, Ex-Chairman. The Committee recommended that the FIA may provide the details of 16 cases registered against the responsibles in the next meeting. The Committee recommended that the EOBI Legal Team would pursue the cases actively and properly in the Supreme Court.

5.         The Committee further recommended that the yearly financial report of EOBI must be presented in the National Assembly.
