NA Standing Committee On Communications Meets

Islamabad, the 10th May 2017. National Highway Authority (NHA) is going to hold survey to connect Astore to Azad Kashmir. This has been stated by NHA authorities during a briefing given to Standing Committee of National Assembly on Communications. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi. It was briefed to the Committee that the Skardu-Gilgit road will be constructed in a shortest period of seven months. There are three bridges of Gilgit-Skardu road two of the bridges of the road will be imported from England and tenders and other process of the road has been completed and the road will be constructed by FWO in seven months. It was added that the work of the road will be started in August 2017. It was informed that Jaglot to Skardu road is part of Gilgit-Skardu road, which is going to be started. Its PC-I has already been approved and passed by the competent authority. NHA informed that mega projects of M-9, Green Line and Lyari Expressway will be completed within the decided time period. The standing Committee on Communications directed that no delay in any national project will be tolerated. The Committee showed its displeasure on the fact that there are several encroachments on the right of way of NHA especially on N-50 but NHA is not going to remove any encroachment because of one reason or the other. The Committee directed that all of the encroachments should be removed without any further delay. The Committee also directed that recommendations of the Committee should be implemented in letter and spirit. The Committee directed that the Ministry of Communications should give a complete and detailed report of all encroachments on the roads of NHA and the actions taken by NHA. The Committee meeting was attended by 14 MNAs including Mr. Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi, Mr. Sarzameen, Ccahudry Khalid Javed Warraich, Ms. Maiza Hameed, Mr. Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Mr. Ramesh Lal, Mr. Salim Rehman, Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq Khalil, Molana Qamar-ud-Din, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah and Ms. Naseema Hafeez Panezai.
