NA Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Meets

     The 37th meeting of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs was held in Meeting Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad today under the Chairmanship of
Mr. Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, MNA to Consider and discussed the Ratification of International Treaties Bill, 2013(Private Member, Bill) moved by Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari, MNA.

2.    The Chairman explained that this meeting was specifically called for consideration of private member bill moved by Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari, MNA and before starting the discussion and view point of Hon. Members I would like to invite the mover and the other Members beside the views of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Division and Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights. All the participants were given opportunity to comment and present their considered opinion on the proposed bill throwing light on its importance, objectives as well as its legal implications if any. Moreover, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cabinet were specifically asked to explain the present procedure and steps in details at each stage and their opinion about the proposed bill in order to understand the scope and intention of the mover for increasing the parliamentary oversight on this particular aspect of the foreign policy/relation in the best public interest.

3.     Later on, the Chairman while concluding the debate requested the mover to correct the text of the bill which was highlighted during the meeting and submit the same for further consideration in the next meeting.  

4.    The Members who attended the meeting are: Sahibzada Muhammad Nazeer Sultan, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, Ch. Salman Hanif Khan, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi, Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari, Mr. Ghous Bux Khan Maher, Ms. Naeema Kishwar Khan and Senior Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Division and Ministry of Law & Justice also attended the meeting.
