Islamabad, the 28th February 2017:The meeting of the Standing Committee on Government Assurances was held today on February28th 2017 at 11:00 am in old PIPS Committee Room, Parliament Lodges, Islamabad. The meeting was presided over by Honourable Mr. Muhammad AfzalKhokhar, Chairman, Standing Committee on Government Assurances.

The Standing Committee on Government Assurances observed that the bureaucracy of Ministry of Water and Power needs to improve its efficiency. The Committee was informed that despite the notice and three reminders, the brief by the Ministry could not reach timely. The Committee ordered the Ministry to submit its report about the outstanding dues of WAPDA against Sindh government and details of its settlement. The Committee also demanded details of loadshedding management in the Sindh rural. The Committee directed Secretary Water and Power to attend the next meeting of the Committee in person. The Committee directed to call for reports of assurances given different ministers in the House from time to time.

MNAs Abdul Majeed Khan KhananKhail, Ms. Shahzadi Umerzadi Tiwana, Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Chaudhry Muhammad Munir Azhar, Syed Sajid Mehdi, Malik Ibrar Ahmed and Mr. Rajab Ali Khan Baloch attended the meeting. In addition Mover Ms. Shagufta Jumani, MNA was also present in the meeting.
