Islamabad, 29th August, 2016: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Trainings visited Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad and held meeting under the Chairmanship of Col. (R) Dr. Amirullah Marwat, MNA. The Vice Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad comprehensively briefed the Committee on the developments, on-going activities and future planning of the university. He informed that it is the first Open University in Asia and second in the world with 1.3 Million students enrolment. He further informed while briefing the Committee on the initiatives taken by them for promotion of quality education in the country that the study centers, examination centers and regional campuses have been increased to cater the ever growing number of students. The Committee appreciated the Vice Chancellor and his team on initiatives/progress made by them for promotion of education and literacy rate in the country. The Committee asked the university management to upgrade/equip the regional study centers in order to facilitate the students belonging to far flung area of the country. The Committee further recommended for establishing regional study centers in remote areas of the country for imparting education to the poor students at their door steps.

2.       The meeting was attended by Mr. Muhammad Nazir Khan, Dr. Zulfikar Ali Bhatti, Ms. Shaista Pervaiz, Ms. Asyia Naz Tanoli, Ms. Rida Khan, Ms. Phyllis Azeem, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Ms. Shahida Rehmani, Dr. Imran Khattak, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan and Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai MNAs and Officers/Officials of the Ministry and its attached departments.
