NA Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges Meets

Islamabad; July 13, 2016: Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges has directed M/o Communications to immediate suspend Deputy Superintendent, Post Services Jhang region Mr. Aqleem Hussain Luk and Deputy Post Master General, Jhang Ch. Aslam and conduct an inquiry into the incident of misbehavior with MNA Mr. Najaf Abbas Sial. The Committee directed the Ministry to submit report of the inquiry Committee to the Rules of Procedure and Privileges Committee within fifteen days. The Committee met in Parliament House this afternoon with Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwaar Chaudhry, MNA in the chair.

The Committee was not satisfied with the replies rendered by both the official, therefore, directed constitution of an Inquiry Committee headed by Joint Secretary of the M/o Communications to ascertain the their culpability. The Committee directed that the Inquiry Committee may also fix responsibility if the both the official were found guilty. The Committee decided to take up the Question of Privilege in its next meeting.

The Committee while discussing the amendments moved by MNAs Ms. Naeema Kishwar Khan and Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari in Rule 118 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 directed for obtaining views of the Legislation Wing of the National Assembly Secretariat before recommending in for passage by the House. The Committee decided to take up the both the Amendments in its next meeting.

The Committee deferred the discussion on Question of Privileges moved by MNAs; Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Nawab Muhammad Yousaf Talpur and Ch. Jafar Iqbal till its next meeting due to inability of the Movers to attend the meeting.

The meeting was attended by MNAs; Chaudhry Khadim Hussain, Rana Umer Nazir Khan, Ch. Bilal Ahmed Virk, Mr. Najaf Abbas Sial, Mr. Azhar Qayyum Nahra, Mr. Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail, Sheikh Muhammad Akram, Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad Tarar, Ms. Kiran Haider, Nawab Muhammad Yousaf Talpur, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Mr. Gulzar Khan, Mr. Muhammad Ali Rashid, Ms. Asiya Nasir, Movers of the Question of Privileges/ Amendments; Ms. Naeema Kishwar Khan, Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari, Secretaries of Ministries of Communications & Parliamentary Affairs, Chief Commissioner (ICT), Director General, Postal Services and other Officers of the concerned departments.
