Islamabad, 1st April, 2016: A meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) met today in Ministry of States and Frontier Regions,” S” Block, Pak. Secretariat, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Jamal ud Din, MNA. The Committee discussed the previous meeting minutes and approved the same. The Committee was also briefed on the implementation status of the recommendations made in its previous meeting by the Director, Solar System, FATA and informed that PC 1 of 279 Tube wells for Irrigation purpose in FATA have been submitted to USAID for approval to convert the said Tube wells from electricity to Solar System. The Committee strongly recommended to the concerned quarters to make functional and convert the Tube wells for water drinking purpose on Solar System of the area of Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPS) on priority basis, so that the returned TDPs could be benefited of it. The Committee was also briefed by the Chief Coordinator, RAHA on the development projects undertaken under the Refugees Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) Program across the country. He further informed that the RAHA programme was launched in 2009 and approximately 3,500 RAHA projects have been implemented so far in all four provinces and FATA. The Committee showed dissatisfaction over the briefing and directed the Chief Coordinator, RAHA to furnish the details of these projects to the Committee, so that the Committee Members could check the projects on ground. The Committee also discussed the issue of alleged irregularities in appointments and posting of junior officers on higher posts in Directorate of Education and directed that senior officers should be appointed on seniority cum fitness basis on the higher posts.
