Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met today at Parliament House

Islamabad, the 3rd December, 2014: The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met today under the Chairmanship of Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, MNA in the Parliament House, Islamabad in connection with the invitation to Ambassador of European Union for presentation on Pak-European Union relations viz-a-viz to further enhance the cooperation between the Parliaments of European Union and Pakistan. H.E Mr. Wigemark, Ambassador for European Union apprised the Committee that Pakistan and the European Union enjoy friendly relations which have progressed from economic relationship to strategic partnership. Chairman, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, MNA thanked European Union for granting GSP plus status to Pakistan. He viewed that European Union and Pakistan are the largest trading partner amounting trade to US$ 11 billon. Pakistan-EU five year engagement plans covered the fields of security, democracy, governance, human right, socioeconomic developments, trade, investment, energy and sectoral cooperation. He hoped for holding Pakistan-EU Summit at the level of the Prime Minister in early 2015.
 

The meeting was attended by MNAs Mr. Daniyal Aziz, Sahibzada Muhammad Nazeer Sultan, Mian Najeebuddin Awaisi, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, Ms. Marvi Memon, Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Ms. Naeema Kishwar Khan, Mr. Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Mr. Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao.
