Islamabad; September 30, 2014: National Assembly Standing Committee on House & Library met under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi at Parliament House, today.

The Committee expressed its grave concern over non- implementation of decisions/recommendations as made during its previous meetings and delay of construction of additional family suits for the Parliamentarians at Parliament Lodges.   The Committee also expressed its reservations over the substandard maintenance work carried out by the CDA at Parliament Lodges.  The Deputy Speaker National Assembly has constituted a sub-Committee under the convenership  of Mrs. Shahida Rehmani, MNA which will meet weekly to monitor the implementations of the Committee decisions and maintenance work at Parliament Lodges.

The members of the Committee complained about the arrears in the utility bills.  The Deputy Speaker directed the CDA to bifurcate arrears from the current bills.  He also directed the CDA to conduct enquiry against the officer who issued NOC to members of previous National Assembly without clearance of utility bills.  He also instructed the Director Parliament Lodges to conduct a complete survey of Parliament Lodges to asses the condition of Lodges and report to Chairman CDA within 15 days. He also instructed for the replacement of the location of dispensary from basement to some other suitable place where the ambulance can easily access.

Earlier the Chairman CDA apprised the committee about the implementation of decisions/recommendations as approved in the previous meeting of the Committee and the progress on the construction of additional family suits for the members of the Parliament at Parliament Lodges.  He assured the Committee that their decisions will be implemented with letter and spirit.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Nawabzada Mazhar Ali, Mian Muhammad Rasheed, Sardar Mumtaz Khan, Dr. Ibadullah, Mrs. Shahida Rahmani, Mehboob Alam, Molana Qamar ud Din, and Malik Ibrar Ahmed senior officers of the National Assembly, CDA and Cabinet were also present in the meeting
