Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat Meets

Islamabad, 23rd July, 2014: The Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat met today at in the Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, MNA to consider the following agenda:-

i)                    Briefing by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal on their ongoing/future projects and criteria for Financial Assistance, Ramadan Package, Medical Facilities, etc. for the poor.

                        ii)         Details of Peoples Works Programme, constituency-wise from 2008 to 2013, as decided in the last meeting.

            iii)        OGRA to provide details of establishment of LNG Receiving/Storage
Terminal by Elegy Terminal Pakistan Ltd. (ETPL) at Port Qasim Authority, Karachi and;

a.                   Inform about the decision of Cabinet taken on April 18, 2014, that LNG Ship from Qatar will reach PQA on November 01, 2014?

b.                  What is status to establish OGRA sub-offices (Complaint Cell) at
provincial Head Qu
arters as recommended by the Committee in its last meeting?

            iv)        Briefing on National Archives of Pakistan.

            v)         Briefing on Federal Employees Benevolent and Group Insurance Funds.

            vi)        Any other item with permission of the Chair.

2. Director General, Federal Employees Benevolent & Group Insurance Funds (GEB&GIF) briefed the Federal Employees Benevolent & Group Insurance Funds (FEB &GIF) were established in April 1969 under the Federal Employees Benevolent Fund & Group Insurance Act 1969. The purpose of establishing the Funds is to provide Benevolent Grant, Group Insurance and other benefits to Federal Government employees and employees of the specified autonomous organizations. The FEB & GIF at present is providing coverage under its welfare schemes, to more than 600,000 Federal government employees and the employees of autonomous organizations. He informed about the structure, administration and organogram, benefits paid under the welfare schemes of the funds, source of the funds and investments and its contribution and investments. He stated that in order to increase income, the construction of BF Tower in Blue Area, Islamabad is in hand and construction of shopping mall and high rise office building in Finance and Trade Centre Lahore is also under concentration. He also informed about the benefits schemes for Federal government employees in which included children Marriage Grant, Educational stipend as well as Reimbursement of Fee, Burial Charges, Farewell Grant on Retirement, Lump sum Grant on Invalid Retirement and Cash Awards in Essay Writing Competition.

3. MNAs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Malik Ibrar Ahmad, Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, Ms. Nighat Parveen .Mir, Ms. Shahnaz Saleem, Mrs. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak and Syed Ali Raza Abidi were present in the meeting.
