Islamabad, 17 September, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa Ms Angela Thokozile Didiza on the sidelines of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Cape Town on Thursday, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening parliamentary and bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq briefed his South African counterpart on Pakistan’s parliamentary system and observed that the two countries had lost considerable time in developing their bilateral relationship. Recalling the visits of former South African President Nelson Mandela to Pakistan in 1992 and 1999, he stressed the need to build stronger and mutually beneficial ties, with parliaments playing a leading role.
The National Assembly Speaker proposed enhanced parliamentary cooperation in areas including legislation, parliamentary committee systems, modernization of parliamentary business and institutional experience-sharing.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also highlighted Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, noting that despite contributing only 0.6 per cent of global carbon emissions, Pakistan remains among the countries most severely affected by climate-related disasters.
He briefed the South African Speaker on Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and reiterated Pakistan’s position that Afghan soil must not be used for terrorism against Pakistan.
On regional peace and security, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reiterated Pakistan’s principled position in favour of a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He also briefed the South African side on Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability amid tensions in the Gulf, stressing that war and conflict in the region serve the interests of no one.
The National Assembly Speaker highlighted key initiatives undertaken by the Parliament of Pakistan, including the Green Parliament initiative, and invited the South African Speaker to visit Pakistan to further strengthen parliamentary exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
Speaker Angela Thokozile Didiza, accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), chairpersons of parliamentary committees and senior parliamentary officials, appreciated the initiatives of the Parliament of Pakistan. The South African delegation also briefed the Pakistani side on the functioning of their respective parliamentary institutions.
The South African parliamentarians expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation and sharing parliamentary experiences, particularly in legislation, committee systems and modernization of parliamentary processes.
Speaker Didiza expressed interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Assembly of Pakistan and assured that a South African parliamentary delegation would visit Pakistan soon. She also called for greater cooperation in trade, commerce, tourism, people-to-people contacts and parliamentary experience-sharing.
The South African Speaker extended an invitation to Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to undertake a bilateral visit to South Africa.
The Deputy Speaker of South Africa appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace, particularly its efforts concerning the Gulf situation, and shared South Africa’s initiatives to enhance the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in parliamentary work.
Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening parliamentary exchanges and deepening bilateral relations between Pakistan and South Africa.
اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق کی جنوبی افریقہ کی اسپیکر سے ملاقات؛ پاکستان اور جنوبی افریقہ کے درمیان پارلیمانی و دوطرفہ تعلقات مزید مستحکم بنانے پر اتفاق
اسلام آباد، 17 ستمبر 2026ء: اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے جنوبی افریقہ کی قومی اسمبلی کی اسپیکر محترمہ اینجلا تھوکوزائلے دیدیزا (Angela Thokozile Didiza) سے ملاقات کی۔ ملاقات جنوبی افریقہ کے شہر کیپ ٹاؤن میں دولتِ مشترکہ کی پارلیمانی ایسوسی ایشن (سی پی اے) کی 69ویں کانفرنس کے موقع پر ہوئی۔ ملاقات میں پاکستان اور جنوبی افریقہ کے درمیان دوطرفہ تعلقات، پارلیمانی روابط کے فروغ سمیت اہم علاقائی و عالمی امور پر تفصیلی تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا۔
دونوں اسپیکرز نے دونوں ممالک کی پارلیمانوں کے مابین رابطوں کو مزید مضبوط بنانے کی ضرورت پر زور دیتے ہوئے تجارت، سرمایہ کاری اور سیاحت سمیت مختلف شعبوں میں تعاون بڑھانے اور دونوں ممالک کی پارلیمانوں کے درمیان روابط کو مزید فروغ دینے کے عزم کا اظہار کیا۔
اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ پارلیمانی روابط دونوں ممالک کے درمیان ہم آہنگی اور تعاون کے فروغ میں اہم کردار ادا کر سکتے ہیں۔ اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے دونوں پارلیمانوں کے درمیان قانون سازی، کمیٹی نظام، پارلیمانی طریقہ کار سے آگاہ کرتے ہوئے دونوں ممالک کی پارلیمانوں کے مابین تجربات کے تبادلے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا.
اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے جنوبی افریقہ کی اسپیکر کو پاکستان کی گرین پارلیمنٹ، پارلیمانی کاکسز اور کمیٹی نظام کو مزید مؤثر بنانے کے لیے قومی اسمبلی کی جانب سے اٹھائے گئے مختلف اقدامات سے بھی آگاہ کیا۔
موسمیاتی تبدیلی کے حوالے سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ گرین ہاؤس گیسوں کے عالمی اخراج میں پاکستان کا حصہ صرف 0.6 فیصد ہے، تاہم پاکستان موسمیاتی تبدیلی کے شدید اثرات سے متاثر ہونے والے ممالک میں شامل ہے۔ انہوں نے موسمیاتی تبدیلی کے منفی اثرات سے نمٹنے کے لیے عالمی سطح پر مشترکہ اور مؤثر اقدامات کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔
علاقائی صورتحال پر گفتگو کرتے ہوئے اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ افغان سرزمین پاکستان کے خلاف دہشت گردی کے لیے استعمال ہو رہی ہے، جو خطے کے امن و استحکام کے لیے ایک بڑا چیلنج ہے۔ انہوں نے مسئلہ کشمیر کے پرامن حل کے لیے پاکستان کے اصولی مؤقف کا بھی اعادہ کیا۔
اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے کہا کہ جنگ کسی کے مفاد میں نہیں، تنازعات کا حل مذاکرات، سفارت کاری اور پرامن ذرائع کے ذریعے تلاش کیا جانا چاہیے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان مشرقِ وسطیٰ میں امن کے فروغ اور کشیدگی کے خاتمے کے لیے اپنی کوششیں جاری رکھے ہوئے ہے۔
ملاقات کے دوران اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے جنوبی افریقہ کی اسپیکر کو پاکستان کے دورے کی دعوت دی۔ جنوبی افریقہ کی اسپیکر نے دونوں ممالک کی پارلیمانوں کے درمیان ادارہ جاتی روابط کو مزید مستحکم بنانے کے لیے مفاہمتی یادداشت (MoU) طے کرنے کی خواہش کا اظہار کیا۔
محترمہ اینجلا تھوکوزائلے دیدیزا نے جنوبی افریقہ کا پارلیمانی وفد جلد پاکستان بھیجنے کی یقین دہانی کراتے ہوئے اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق کو جنوبی افریقہ کے دورے کی دعوت بھی دی۔
دونوں اسپیکرز نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ پاکستان اور جنوبی افریقہ کی پارلیمانوں کے درمیان قریبی روابط، باہمی تعاون اور پارلیمانی تجربات کے تبادلے کو مزید فروغ دیا جائے گا، تاکہ دونوں ممالک کے درمیان موجود دوستانہ تعلقات کو مزید مستحکم بنایا جا سکے۔
