Islamabad 1st September, 2026;Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has paid tribute to Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on his fifth death anniversary, acknowledging his longstanding political struggle and unwavering advocacy for the fundamental rights and aspirations of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Syed Ali Shah Geelani remained a resolute and influential voice on the Kashmir issue throughout his political life. His steadfast position on the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people, despite prolonged periods of detention and house arrest, reflected his firm commitment to the cause he championed.

 

NA Speaker said that Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s contribution to the Kashmir cause would continue to be remembered. He underscored that the aspirations of the Kashmiri people for their fundamental rights and a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remain central to efforts for lasting peace and stability in the region.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s unequivocal support for the legitimate right to self-determination of the people of IIOJK and called upon the international community to fulfil its obligations towards resolving the longstanding dispute. He stressed that a just and lasting settlement must be achieved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. 

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq prayed to Allah Almighty for the elevation of the ranks of the late Syed Ali Geelani.
