Independence Day grants an opportunity to renew our commitment to national responsibilities, development and prosperity, says NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq

Islamabad, 14th August 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has extended his heartfelt felicitations to the entire nation on the occasion of Pakistan's 79th Independence Day. He said that 14th August is a glorious day in the national history of Pakistan.The day grants an opportunity to thank Almighty Allah for the great blessing of freedom, pay tribute to the countless sacrifices made for the creation of Pakistan, and renew our resolve to make the country stronger, prosperous and developed.

 

The Speaker said that the creation of Pakistan was the result of the continuous struggle, determination and unparalleled sacrifices of the Muslims of the subcontinent. The nation's forefathers offered extraordinary sacrifices for the achievement of an independent homeland. Pakistan stands as a living symbol of the determination, courage, perseverance and sacrifices of its founders 

 

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that on Independence Day, we must renew our commitment to placing the national interest above personal, political, linguistic and regional differences.He emphasized that national unity, mutual tolerance, democratic continuity, supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law are essential for putting Pakistan on the path of sustainable development, stability and prosperity.

 

The Speaker said that the armed forces and law-enforcement agencies have always rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the protection of Pakistan's security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He said that during the Marka-e-Haq, the Pakistani nation and its armed forces demonstrated remarkable unity, determination, courage and professional capability, making it a bright chapter in the country's history. The entire nation displayed unprecedented unity and solidarity, making it clear that the people of Pakistan remain united and resolute in protecting the country's sovereignty and national security.

 

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has paid rich tribute to the Martyrs and Ghazis of Pakistan, saying that their great sacrifices remain a source of inspiration for the entire nation.

He said that the sacrifices rendered by the martyrs and ghazis for the defence, peace and security of the country will always be remembered with the highest respect and honour. Their sacrifices inspire the nation to fulfil its national responsibilities, remain loyal to the homeland and strengthen its resolve to defend Pakistan.The Speaker said that Pakistan has always played a responsible role in promoting global peace, peaceful resolution of conflicts, dialogue and diplomacy.

He said that during the recent regional tensions, Pakistan's efforts to promote peace through negotiations, communication and diplomatic channels had received international recognition. As a responsible state, Pakistan will continue to play a positive and constructive role in promoting regional and global peace, stability and international cooperation.

 

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has described the recent Makkah Joint Defence Agreement as an important development towards strengthening mutual trust, cooperation and the shared commitment to security among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

He said that coordinated measures for defence cooperation and collective security among brotherly Islamic countries can contribute significantly to regional peace and stability. Pakistan attaches great importance to unity, brotherhood, mutual respect and shared interests within the Muslim world and will continue to play its role in further strengthening relations with brotherly countries.

 

The Speaker emphasized that the demands of freedom are not limited merely to the protection of national borders and sovereignty. They also include the national responsibility to build a Pakistan where every citizen, without discrimination, has access to equal opportunities, justice, quality education, healthcare, employment and the benefits of economic development.

He said that economic stability, self-reliance, human-resource development, creation of new employment opportunities, promotion of modern technology and empowerment of the youth are fundamental requirements for building a bright, strong and prosperous Pakistan.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Parliament will continue to perform its constitutional role in ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution, legislation, public representation, accountability and the promotion of democratic values.He emphasized that a strong, effective and empowered Parliament can play a vital role in effectively representing public aspirations, promoting national consensus and addressing the problems faced by the people.

 

 

The Speaker paid rich tribute to the important role played by women in the Pakistan Movement. He said that women participated alongside men in the struggle for the establishment of Pakistan.

Women rendered valuable services by organizing public support and taking the message of the Muslim League to households across the country. He particularly acknowledged the contributions of Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Begum Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Jahan Ara Shahnawaz and other women leaders who strengthened the Pakistan Movement through public gatherings and communication

campaigns.He said that the struggle and sacrifices of women during the Pakistan Movement constitute an unforgettable chapter of Pakistan's history.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the youth are Pakistan's most valuable asset and the guarantee of the country's bright future.He emphasized that providing young people with quality education, modern skills, opportunities for research and employment should be a national priority. By harnessing the potential of young people in artificial intelligence, digital technology, science, research and innovation, Pakistan can secure a prominent position in the global economy and technological landscape.

 

The Speaker said that the vision of Pakistan presented by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah teaches us the values of unity, faith, discipline, constitutionalism, democratic values and the rule of law.

He said that, in the light of the teachings and vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, we must build a Pakistan that is strong, sovereign, democratic, constitutional, welfare-oriented and economically stable.

On the occasion of Independence Day, the Speaker also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples in their struggle for the right to self-determination and freedom.

He said that Pakistan cannot celebrate its own freedom while forgetting those nations that continue to struggle for their fundamental rights and independence. The Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples have made immense sacrifices for their right to self-determination, and their struggle continues to challenge the conscience of the international community.He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to support their legitimate right to self-determination.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the development and prosperity of Pakistan are a shared national responsibility.He emphasized that Pakistan can truly become a strong, sovereign and prosperous state only by giving priority to national interests over personal and group interests, promoting unity and harmony, and utilizing all available capabilities for national development.

The Speaker said that Independence Day calls upon us to renew our pledge to use all our capabilities for the development, security and prosperity of Pakistan.He urged the nation to uphold the Constitution and law, promote national unity and solidarity, and play its full role in transforming Pakistan into a strong, sovereign, democratic and welfare state in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Pakistan's future is bright and that the country can reach new heights of development and prosperity through collective determination, hard work, honesty, discipline and unity.The Speaker prayed that Almighty Allah may always bless Pakistan with peace, stability, progress and prosperity, protect the homeland from all internal and external challenges, and accept the great sacrifices of the nation's martyrs and ghazis.
