Islamabad, August 11, 2026: National Assembly Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has paid tribute to the valuable contribution of minority communities to the development and progress of Pakistan, saying that minorities living in the country are rendering valuable services in all walks of life, including education, health, defence and trade.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that under Article 25 of the Constitution of Pakistan, all citizens are equal before the law and are entitled to equal protection of law without discrimination on the basis of colour, race, sex or religion. He expressed these views in his message on the occasion of National Minorities’ Day, observed across the country every year on August 11 with national spirit and enthusiasm.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that National Minorities’ Day provides an opportunity to reaffirm the collective resolve to promote mutual respect, tolerance, interfaith harmony and national unity. He said that in his historic address to the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947, the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had articulated the fundamental principle that every citizen was free to practice his or her religion, visit places of worship and live according to his or her faith. He said that Quaid-e-Azam’s historic address laid the foundation for a society based on religious freedom, equality, tolerance and the rule of law, where all citizens enjoy equal rights without discrimination on the basis of colour, race or religion.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the State of Pakistan is committed to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam and that all citizens living in Pakistan enjoy equal rights, including the right to religious freedom. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the Parliament of Pakistan had always played an effective role in protecting the rights of minority communities, promoting interfaith harmony and ensuring equal opportunities through legislation. He said that minority parliamentarians in the National Assembly were actively contributing to legislation and national affairs, which was a manifestation of the strength of Pakistan’s democratic and inclusive parliamentary system.

 

Referring to the outstanding contributions of prominent non-Muslim personalities of Pakistan, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly C.E. Gibbon, former Speaker of the Punjab Assembly S.P. Singha, Justice A.R. Cornelius, Justice Dorab Patel, Justice Rana Bhagwandas, Dr. Ruth Pfau, Pakistan Air Force Squadron Leader Cecil Chaudhry, Pakistan Air Force Group Captain Kamran Bashir, renowned diplomat Jamsheed Marker and other non-muslim distinguished personalities, had rendered invaluable services in various fields. He said that their contributions constituted a proud and enduring part of Pakistan’s national history.

 

NA Speaker said that the foundation of a strong, developed and prosperous Pakistan lay in equality, justice, religious freedom and the equal participation of all citizens. He reiterated that Parliament would continue to fulfil its responsibilities with commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of minorities, promoting religious tolerance and further strengthening national unity.

 

On the occasion, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that National Minorities’ Day reminded us that people belonging to all faiths had played a significant role in the development and stability of Pakistan. He said that tolerance, mutual respect and religious freedom were the foundations of a strong, peaceful and prosperous society. He said that, in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the spirit of the Constitution of Pakistan, it was a collective responsibility to build a society where all citizens could live with religious freedom and without discrimination on the basis of religion, colour or race. NA Deputy Speaker reiterated that Parliament would continue to play its role in protecting the rights of minorities, ensuring equal opportunities and promoting interfaith harmony.

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے ملک کی تعمیر و ترقی میں اقلیتی برادری کے کردار کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاکستان میں بسنے والی اقلیتیں تعلیم، صحت، دفاع، تجارت سمیت تمام شعبہ ہائے زندگی میں قابلِ قدر خدمات انجام دے رہی ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ آئینِ پاکستان کے آرٹیکل 25 کے تحت تمام شہری قانون کی نظر میں بلاامتیاز رنگ، نسل، جنس اور مذہب برابر ہیں اور قانونی تحفظ کے مساوی طور پر حقدار ہیں۔ انہوں نے ان خیالات کا اظہار اقلیتوں کے قومی دن کے موقع پر اپنے پیغام میں کیا، جو ہر سال 11 اگست کو ملک بھر میں ملی جوش و جذبے سے منایا جاتا ہے۔

 

اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ اقلیتوں کا قومی دن ہمیں باہمی احترام، رواداری، مذہبی ہم آہنگی اور قومی یکجہتی کے فروغ کے عزم کی تجدید کا موقع فراہم کرتا ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ 11 اگست 1947ء کو دستور ساز اسمبلی سے اپنے تاریخی خطاب میں بانی پاکستان قائد اعظم محمد علی جناحؒ نے فرمایا کہ ہر شہری اپنے مذہب پر عمل کرنے، اپنی عبادت گاہوں میں جانے اور اپنے عقیدے کے مطابق زندگی گزارنے کے لیے آزاد ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قائد اعظمؒ کا یہ تاریخی خطاب پاکستان میں مذہبی آزادی، مساوات، برداشت اور قانون کی حکمرانی پر مبنی ایک ایسے معاشرے کی بنیاد فراہم کرتا ہے جہاں تمام شہریوں کو بلا امتیاز رنگ و نسل اور مذہب مساوی حقوق حاصل ہوں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ریاست پاکستان قائد اعظمؒ کے اس وژن پر عمل پیرا ہے اور پاکستان میں بسنے والے تمام شہریوں کو مکمل مذہبی آزادی سمیت مساوی حقوق حاصل ہیں۔

 

اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ پاکستان کی پارلیمان نے ہمیشہ اقلیتی برادری کے حقوق کے تحفظ، بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی اور مساوی مواقعوں کی فراہمی کے لیے مؤثر قانون سازی کی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قومی اسمبلی میں اقلیتی ارکانِ پارلیمان قانون سازی اور قومی امور میں فعال کردار ادا کر رہے ہیں، جو پاکستان کے جمہوری اور شمولیتی نظام کی مضبوطی کا مظہر ہے۔

 

اس موقع پر اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے پاکستانی غیر مسلم شخصیات کے کارہائے نمایاں کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ سابق ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سی۔ای۔ گبن، سابق اسپیکر پنجاب اسمبلی ایس۔پی۔ سنگھا، جسٹس اے۔آر۔ کارنیلیئس، جسٹس دراب پٹیل، جسٹس رانا بھگوان داس، ڈاکٹر رتھ فاؤ، اسکواڈرن لیڈر پاک فضائیہ سیسل چوہدری، گروپ کیپٹن پاک فضائیہ کامران بشیر اور معروف سفارتکار جمشید مارکر سمیت دیگر ممتاز غیر مسلم شخصیات نے مختلف شعبہ ہائے زندگی میں گراں قدر خدمات سرانجام دیں، جو ہماری قومی تاریخ کا قابلِ فخر حصہ ہیں۔

 

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے کہا کہ ایک مضبوط، ترقی یافتہ اور خوشحال پاکستان کی بنیاد مساوات، انصاف، مذہبی آزادی اور تمام شہریوں کی یکساں شمولیت میں مضمر ہے۔ انہوں نے اس عزم کا اعادہ کیا کہ پارلیمان اقلیتوں کے آئینی حقوق کے تحفظ، مذہبی رواداری کے فروغ اور قومی یکجہتی کو مزید مستحکم بنانے کے لیے اپنی آئینی ذمہ داریاں ادا کرتی رہے گی۔

 

اس موقع پر ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سید غلام مصطفیٰ شاہ نے کہا کہ اقلیتوں کا قومی دن ہمیں یاد دلاتا ہے کہ پاکستان کی ترقی اور استحکام میں تمام مذاہب کے ماننے والوں نے بھرپور کردار ادا کیا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ رواداری، باہمی احترام اور مذہبی آزادی ہی ایک مضبوط، پرامن اور خوشحال معاشرے کی بنیاد ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قائد اعظم محمد علی جناح کے وژن اور آئین پاکستان کی روح کے مطابق ایک ایسا معاشرہ تشکیل دینا ہماری مشترکہ ذمہ داری ہے جہاں تمام شہری بلاامتیاز مذہب، رنگ و نسل مذہبی آزادی کے ساتھ اپنی زندگی بسر کر سکیں۔ انہوں نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ پارلیمان اقلیتوں کے حقوق کے تحفظ، مساوی مواقعوں کی فراہمی اور بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی کے فروغ کے لیے اپنا کردار بھرپور انداز میں ادا کرتی رہے گی۔
