Islamabad, May 21, 2026:The inaugural ceremony of the SDG Youth Campaign/Training titled “Hum Hain Pakistan” was held at Parliament House, Islamabad under the auspices of the SDG Parliamentary Task Force. The ceremony brought together parliamentarians, educational leaders, development partners, students, and representatives from various institutions to promote youth engagement and awareness regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

 

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in his opening remarks, emphasized the critical role of youth participation in parliamentary procedures, democratic governance, and sustainable development. Addressing the participants, the Speaker stated that the SDGs Secretariat was established as a focused and facilitative institution aimed at strengthening coordination between federal and provincial legislative bodies while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals across Pakistan. He highlighted the efforts undertaken to ensure uniformity of laws and institutional development among all provinces. He shared that the National Assembly has trained provincial legislative units for the establishment of various parliamentary caucuses, including Women Caucuses and Child Rights Caucuses, which are now functional in all provincial assemblies.

Referring to the 2024 Speakers’ Conference, the Speaker noted that the conference played a significant role in building liaison and cooperation among provincial assemblies and legislative institutions throughout the country. He stressed the importance of creating stronger linkages between federal universities and provincial educational institutions to promote research collaboration, youth engagement, and volunteerism. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq encouraged students, research associates, and young volunteers to actively contribute towards national development and sustainable progress. He also appreciated the contribution of Honourable Ms. Maryam Aurangzeb in making youth-centered SDG initiatives more active and impactful.

 

Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Convener SDGs stated that the “Hum Hain Pakistan” initiative was launched with the vision of transforming students from passive learners into active partners in national development. She emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved when young people are equipped with awareness, leadership skills, civic responsibility, and practical opportunities to contribute towards their communities.

 

She further noted that the campaign would promote student-led projects, mentorship opportunities, institutional SDG focal persons, and community engagement to ensure that the Sustainable Development Goals become a lived reality for Pakistan’s youth.

 

During the event, Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri, Founding Director/CEO of the International Governance and Sustainability Institute (IG-SI), delivered a comprehensive presentation on the “Hum Hain Pakistan” SDG Youth Campaign and Training initiative. He explained that the campaign is a structured youth-led initiative designed to institutionalize SDG education and action across schools, colleges, and universities in Islamabad through a “Learning + Action” model. The initiative aims to transform students from passive learners into active change-makers.

 

The campaign is being spearheaded by the SDG Parliamentary Task Force in collaboration with the International Governance and Sustainability Institute (IG-SI), United Peacekeepers Federal Council (UNPKFC), and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

 

The initiative aligns with Pakistan’s five-year National Economic Transformation Plan, “Uraan Pakistan,” built around the 5E framework: Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment, Energy & Infrastructure, and Equity & Empowerment. By integrating SDG awareness with practical implementation, the campaign seeks to support Pakistan’s progress toward the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, stated that it was encouraging to see public school principals at the centre of the dialogue, as they are the real drivers of meaningful educational transformation. He observed that while students in many private institutions have become increasingly familiar with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the same opportunities have not reached a large number of public school students across Pakistan.He emphasized that bridging this gap is the core purpose of the “Hum Hain Pakistan” initiative. Barrister Danyal Chaudhry remarked that principals possess firsthand understanding of the realities within classrooms and communities, and their practical insights are essential to transforming SDG awareness from policy into action.

 

He urged educational leaders to help make SDGs simpler, relatable, and more teachable for students. He also appreciated the participation of parliamentarians from all provinces and stressed that the initiative must extend beyond the federal level and be replicated across every province with equal commitment and ownership, ensuring that every Pakistani child can understand, believe in, and contribute toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Among the distinguished participants present at the ceremony were Honourable Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, Maj. (R) Tahir Iqbal, Syed Hafeezuddin, Mr. Sher Ali Arbab, and Ms. Mehtab Akbar Rashdi.

اسلام آباد: 21 مئی 2026: پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس، اسلام آباد میں ایس ڈی جیز پارلیمانی ٹاسک فورس کے زیرِ اہتمام "ہم ہیں پاکستان" کے عنوان سے ایس ڈی جیز یوتھ کیمپین/ٹریننگ کی افتتاحی تقریب منعقد ہوئی، جس میں ارکانِ پارلیمان، تعلیمی ماہرین، ترقیاتی شراکت داروں، طلبہ اور مختلف اداروں کے نمائندوں نے شرکت کی۔ اس تقریب کا مقصد قومی ترقی میں نوجوانوں کی شمولیت اور پائیدار ترقی کے اہداف (SDGs) سے متعلق آگاہی کو فروغ دینا تھا۔

 

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے افتتاحی تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پارلیمانی عمل، جمہوری طرزِ حکمرانی اور پائیدار ترقی میں نوجوانوں کی شمولیت ناگزیر ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قومی اسمبلی میں قائم ایس ڈی جیز ٹاسک فورس پائیدار ترقی کے اہداف (SDGs) کو قومی پالیسیوں میں شامل کرنے، وفاقی اور صوبائی قانون ساز اداروں کے درمیان ہم آہنگی کو مضبوط بنانے اور ملک بھر میں پائیدار ترقی کے اہداف کے فروغ کو یقینی بنانے میں فعال کردار ادا کر رہا ہے۔

 

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے کہا کہ تمام صوبوں میں قوانین کی یکسانیت اور ادارہ جاتی ترقی کے لیے مؤثر اقدامات کیے گئے ہیں، جبکہ قومی اسمبلی نے صوبائی قانون ساز اداروں کو مختلف پارلیمانی کاکسز، جن میں ویمن کاکس اور چائلڈ رائٹس کاکس شامل ہیں، کے قیام کی تربیت فراہم کی ہے، جو اب تمام صوبائی اسمبلیوں میں فعال ہیں۔

 

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے 2024 کی اسپیکرز کانفرنس کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس کانفرنس نے ملک بھر کی صوبائی اسمبلیوں اور قانون ساز اداروں کے درمیان روابط اور تعاون کو فروغ دینے میں اہم کردار ادا کیا۔ انہوں نے وفاقی جامعات اور صوبائی تعلیمی اداروں کے درمیان روابط مزید مضبوط بنانے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا تاکہ تحقیق، نوجوانوں کی شمولیت اور رضاکارانہ خدمات کو فروغ دیا جاسکے۔ انہوں نے طلبہ، ریسرچ ایسوسی ایٹس اور نوجوان رضاکاروں پر قومی ترقی اور پائیدار پیشرفت میں فعال کردار ادا کرنے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے پنجاب کی سینیئر وزیر محترمہ مریم اورنگزیب کی نوجوانوں کی فلاح و بہبود پر مرکوز ایس ڈی جیز اقدامات کو فعال اور مؤثر بنانے کی کوششوں کو بھی سراہا۔

 

اس موقع پر پارلیمانی ٹاسک فورس برائے پائیدار ترقی کے اہداف (SDGs) کی کنوینر محترمہ شائستہ پرویز نے کہا کہ "ہم ہیں پاکستان" مہم کا مقصد طلبہ کو قومی ترقی میں فعال شراکت دار بنانا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پائیدار ترقی اسی وقت ممکن ہے جب نوجوانوں کو آگاہی، قیادت کی صلاحیتوں، شہری ذمہ داری اور عملی مواقع فراہم کیے جائیں۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ یہ مہم طلبہ کی زیرِ قیادت منصوبوں، مینٹورشپ پروگرامز، ادارہ جاتی ایس ڈی جیز فوکل پرسنز اور کمیونٹی انگیجمنٹ کو فروغ دے گی تاکہ پائیدار ترقی کے اہداف کو عملی حقیقت بنایا جا سکے۔

 

تقریب کے دوران ڈاکٹر سلطان اعظم تیموری، فاؤنڈنگ ڈائریکٹر/سی ای او انٹرنیشنل گورننس اینڈ سسٹین ایبلٹی انسٹی ٹیوٹ (IG-SI) نے "ہم ہیں پاکستان" ایس ڈی جی یوتھ کیمپین اور ٹریننگ اقدام پر تفصیلی پریزنٹیشن پیش کی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ ایک منظم یوتھ لیڈ اقدام ہے جس کا مقصد اسلام آباد میں اسکولوں، کالجوں اور جامعات میں "لرننگ + ایکشن" ماڈل کے تحت ایس ڈی جی تعلیم اور عملی اقدامات کو ادارہ جاتی شکل دینا ہے، تاکہ طلبہ کو فعال تبدیلی ساز بنایا جا سکے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ مہم ایس ڈی جیز پارلیمانی ٹاسک فورس کی قیادت میں انٹرنیشنل گورننس اینڈ سسٹین ایبلٹی انسٹی ٹیوٹ (IG-SI)، یونائیٹڈ پیس کیپرز فیڈرل کونسل (UNPKFC) اور وزارتِ وفاقی تعلیم و پیشہ ورانہ تربیت کے اشتراک سے جاری ہے۔ یہ اقدام پاکستان کے پانچ سالہ قومی اقتصادی تبدیلی کے منصوبے “اُڑان پاکستان” سے ہم آہنگ ہے، جو 5E فریم ورک (ایکسپورٹس، ای-پاکستان، ماحولیات، توانائی و انفراسٹرکچر، اور مساوات و بااختیاری) پر مبنی ہے اور ایجنڈا 2030 کے اہداف کے حصول میں معاونت فراہم کرتا ہے۔

 

پارلیمانی سیکرٹری برائے اطلاعات و نشریات بیرسٹر دانیال چوہدری نے کہا کہ سرکاری اسکولوں کے پرنسپلز کو اس مکالمے کا مرکز بنانا خوش آئند ہے کیونکہ وہ تعلیمی تبدیلی کے حقیقی محرک ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نجی تعلیمی اداروں کے طلبہ میں ایس ڈی جیز سے آگاہی بڑھ رہی ہے، تاہم سرکاری اسکولوں کے طلبہ اب بھی بڑی حد تک اس سے محروم ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس خلا کو پر کرنا "ہم ہیں پاکستان" کا بنیادی مقصد ہے۔ انہوں نے تعلیمی رہنماؤں پر زور دیا کہ وہ ایس ڈی جیز کو آسان، قابلِ فہم اور قابلِ تدریس بنائیں اور اس اقدام کو تمام صوبوں میں یکساں عزم اور ملکیت کے ساتھ نافذ کیا جائے تاکہ ہر پاکستانی بچہ اس کا حصہ بن سکے۔

 

تقریب میں اراکینِ قومی اسمبلی محترمہ شائستہ پرویز ملک، بیرسٹر دانیال چوہدری، سید علی قاسم گیلانی، ڈاکٹر شازیہ سوبیہ اسلم سومرو، میجر (ر) طاہر اقبال، سید حفیظ الدین، جناب شیر علی ارباب اور محترمہ مہتاب اکبر راشدی سمیت مختلف معزز شخصیات نے شرکت کی۔
