Empowering women is essential for national development, social stability and strengthening democracy, says Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq

 

Islamabad, March 7, 2026: Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in his special message on the occasion of International Women’s Day, paid rich tribute to the invaluable contributions of Pakistani women in every sphere of life. He stated that the dream of steering the country toward sustained development and prosperity cannot be realized without empowering women. He emphasized that no nation can achieve genuine progress unless women are provided with equal opportunities and meaningful participation in all spheres of life. He further noted that women’s effective representation in education, health, employment, leadership and decision-making processes is indispensable for Pakistan’s sustainable development and social harmony.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that Islam accords women dignity, respect and equal rights, leaving no room for gender discrimination or injustice in society. He stressed that it is the collective responsibility of the state and society to take concrete and effective measures to eliminate the social barriers, inequalities and violence faced by women, and to ensure a safe environment, dignified employment and equal opportunities for their advancement and empowerment.

 

He further stated that the present Parliament has placed the protection of women’s rights and the eradication of violence against women among its key legislative priorities. Referring to the Domestic Violence Prevention Law 2026, recently passed during the current year, he described it as a significant milestone and stated that the legislation marks an important step toward protecting women and children from domestic abuse and exploitation. He added that effective implementation of the law would be ensured.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq noted that women enjoy substantial representation in Parliament and are playing an active and constructive role in legislation and national affairs. He commended the efforts of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus and the Special Committee on Gender Mainstreaming, stating that these forums are playing a vital role in promoting women’s political, social and economic empowerment, as well as advancing gender equality within Parliament. He also welcomed the launch of a modern digital application introduced by the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus aimed at strengthening connectivity among women and highlighting issues affecting them.

 

Expressing deep concern and sorrow over the martyrdom of more than 150 schoolgirls during recent Israeli attacks in Iran, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq termed the incident tragic and highly condemnable. He stated that the loss of innocent lives, particularly schoolgirls, constitutes a grave violation and falls within the category of war crimes. He also remarked that the silence of international organizations that claim to safeguard the rights of women and children is a matter of serious concern. He urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting women’s rights and preventing atrocities against them.

 

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also strongly condemned the atrocities committed against women and children by Indian occupying forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and by Israeli forces in Palestine, stating that targeting innocent civilians, particularly women and children, constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law. He called upon the international community to take cognizance of such injustices and to take concrete measures to ensure the protection of vulnerable populations.

 

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that the leadership of Punjab’s first woman Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stands as a testament to the fact that Pakistani women possess the capability and leadership potential to serve successfully at the highest administrative and political positions. He also paid tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Begum Kulsoom Nawaz for their remarkable contributions to democracy and the protection of public rights. He added that Pakistani women are demonstrating their capabilities across all sectors and are making significant contributions to the country’s progress and development.

 

Highlighting the historic role of women in the Pakistan Movement and democratic struggles, he paid glowing tribute to Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Jahan Ara Shahnawaz, and Begum Shaista Ikramullah for their outstanding services. He noted that these courageous women played a pivotal role in promoting national and democratic values and in advocating for the rights and empowerment of women.

 

Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, in his message, stated that women constitute more than half of the population, therefore sustainable and inclusive development cannot be achieved without fully harnessing their potential. He noted that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights and protection to women, and that Parliament will continue to pursue legislative and policy measures aimed at promoting women’s welfare, social protection and economic empowerment, with the objective of building a society founded on the principles of justice, equality and dignity.

اسلام آباد، 7 مارچ 2026ء: اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے عالمی یومِ خواتین کے موقع پر اپنے خصوصی پیغام میں کہا ہے کہ خواتین کو بااختیار بنائے بغیر ملک کو ترقی اور خوشحالی کی راہ پر گامزن کرنے کا خواب شرمندہ تعبیر نہیں ہو سکتا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کسی بھی قوم کی حقیقی ترقی اس وقت تک ممکن نہیں ہوتی جب تک خواتین کو زندگی کے ہر شعبے میں مساوی مواقع اور مؤثر شرکت داری فراہم نہ کی جائے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ تعلیم، صحت، روزگار، قیادت اور فیصلہ سازی کے عمل میں خواتین کی مؤثر نمائندگی پاکستان کی پائیدار ترقی اور سماجی ہم آہنگی کے لیے ناگزیر ہے۔

 

اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ اسلام خواتین کو عزت، وقار اور مساوی حقوق فراہم کرتا ہے اور معاشرے میں صنفی امتیاز یا ناانصافی کی کوئی گنجائش نہیں چھوڑتا۔ انہوں نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ ریاست اور معاشرے کی مشترکہ ذمہ داری ہے کہ خواتین کو درپیش سماجی رکاوٹوں، عدم مساوات اور تشدد جیسے مسائل کے خاتمے کے لیے مؤثر اور ٹھوس اقدامات کیے جائیں اور خواتین کے لیے محفوظ ماحول، باوقار روزگار اور ترقی کے مساوی مواقع فراہم کیے جائیں۔

 

انہوں نے کہا کہ موجودہ پارلیمان خواتین کے حقوق کے تحفظ اور ان کے خلاف تشدد کے خاتمے کے لیے مؤثر قانون سازی کو اپنی ترجیحات میں شامل کیے ہوئے ہے۔ انہوں نے رواں سال منظور ہونے والے گھریلو تشدد کی روک تھام سے متعلق قانون 2026ء کو ایک اہم سنگِ میل قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ قانون خواتین اور بچوں کو گھریلو استحصال اور تشدد سے تحفظ فراہم کرنے کی جانب ایک اہم پیش رفت ہے اور اس پر مؤثر عملدرآمد یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔

 

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے کہا کہ پارلیمان میں خواتین کی نمایاں نمائندگی موجود ہے جو قانون سازی اور قومی معاملات میں فعال کردار ادا کر رہی ہیں۔ انہوں نے وومنز پارلیمانی کاکس اور خصوصی کمیٹی برائے جینڈر مین اسٹریمنگ کی کاوشوں کو سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ فورمز خواتین کی سیاسی، سماجی اور معاشی بااختیاری کے فروغ اور پارلیمان میں صنفی مساوات کے فروغ کے لیے اہم کردار ادا کر رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے گزشتہ روز یورپی یونین اور اقوام متحدہ کے تعاون سے وومنز پارلیمنٹری کاکس کی جانب سے خواتین کو باہم منسلک کرنے اور ان کے مسائل کو اجاگر کرنے کے لیے متعارف کرائی گئی جدید ایپ کی لانچنگ کو بھی خوش آئند قرار دیا۔

 

اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے ایران میں حالیہ اسرائیلی حملوں کے دوران 150 سے زائد اسکول کی طالبات کی شہادت پر گہری تشویش اور افسوس کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے اسے ایک افسوسناک اور قابلِ مذمت واقعہ قرار دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ معصوم طالبات کی جانوں کا ضیاع جنگی جرائم کے زمرے میں آتا ہے اور خواتین و بچوں کے حقوق کے تحفظ کا دعویٰ کرنے والے عالمی اداروں کی اس سانحے پر خاموشی لمحہ فکریہ ہے۔ انہوں نے زور دیا کہ خواتین کے حقوق کے تحفظ اور ان کے خلاف مظالم کے سدباب کے لیے بین الاقوامی برادری کو اپنی ذمہ داریاں پوری کرنا ہوں گی۔

 

انہوں نے مقبوضہ جموں و کشمیر میں بھارتی قابض افواج اور فلسطین میں اسرائیلی فورسز کی جانب سے خواتین اور بچوں پر ڈھائے جانے والے مظالم کی شدید مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ نہتے شہریوں، خصوصاً خواتین اور بچوں کو نشانہ بنانا عالمی انسانی قوانین کی سنگین خلاف ورزی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ عالمی برادری کو ایسے مظالم کا نوٹس لیتے ہوئے مظلوم خواتین اور بچوں کے تحفظ کے لیے عملی اقدامات کرنے چاہئیں۔

 

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے کہا کہ پنجاب کی پہلی خاتون وزیر اعلیٰ محترمہ مریم نواز شریف کی قیادت اس بات کا ثبوت ہے کہ پاکستانی خواتین اعلیٰ ترین انتظامی اور سیاسی عہدوں پر کامیاب کردار ادا کرنے کی بھرپور صلاحیت رکھتی ہیں۔ انہوں نے شہید محترمہ بے نظیر بھٹو اور بیگم کلثوم نواز کی جمہوریت اور عوامی حقوق کے لیے خدمات کو بھی خراج تحسین پیش کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستانی خواتین ہر شعبے میں اپنی صلاحیتوں کا لوہا منوا رہی ہیں اور قومی ترقی میں بھرپور کردار ادا کر رہی ہیں۔

 

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے تحریکِ پاکستان اور جمہوری جدوجہد میں خواتین کے تاریخی کردار کو اجاگر کرتے ہوئے محترمہ فاطمہ جناح، بیگم رعنا لیاقت علی خان، بیگم جہاں آرا شاہنواز اور بیگم شائستہ اکرام اللہ کی خدمات کو زبردست خراجِ عقیدت پیش کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ان باہمت خواتین نے قومی و جمہوری اقدار کے فروغ اور خواتین کے حقوق کے تحفظ کے لیے نمایاں کردار ادا کیا۔

 

ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سید غلام مصطفیٰ شاہ نے اپنے پیغام میں کہا کہ خواتین کسی بھی معاشرے کی نصف سے زائد آبادی پر مشتمل ہوتی ہیں اور ان کی صلاحیتوں سے بھرپور استفادہ کیے بغیر پائیدار اور جامع ترقی ممکن نہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان کا آئین خواتین کو مساوی حقوق اور تحفظ کی ضمانت دیتا ہے اور پارلیمان خواتین کی فلاح و بہبود، سماجی تحفظ اور معاشی بااختیاری کے لیے قانون سازی اور پالیسی اقدامات جاری رکھے گی تاکہ پاکستان کو ایک ایسا معاشرہ بنایا جا سکے جو انصاف، برابری اور وقار کے اصولوں پر قائم ہو۔
