Islamabad, 24th February, 2026 :The Standing Committee endorsed the proposed projects of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the Financial Year 2026-27
The Standing Committee on Science and Technology, in its meeting held on 24 February 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Committee Room of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Islamabad. Under the Acting Chairman Mr. Sadiq Iftikhar, MNA. The Committee was informed that there are 19 ongoing projects of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), for which an allocation of 7073.448 has been proposed for the financial year 2026-27. These projects are (1) Medical Equipment & Devices innovation Center (MEDICen); (2) Development of Computer Controlled Fermenters and Production of Biochemicals & Bioproducts; (3) Establishment of Material Resource Centre and development of additive manufacturing and Reverse Engineering Centre at PCSIR; (4)Data Repository of Scientific Instrumentation; (5) Research, Development and Innovation in PCSIR; (6) Establishment of Medical Cannabis Greenhouses for Biotechnology Derived Bio-Products, National Hemp & Cannabis Analytical Laboratory and National Industrial Hemp & Medicinal Cannabis Authority; (7) Exploration, Beneficiation and Extraction of Rare Earth Elements, Precious Metals and Critical Mineral in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan; (8) Establishment of NUST Chip Design Centre; (9) Establishment of Centre of Research in Surface Engineering (CoRiSE), NUST, Islamabad; (10) Extension of Display Exhibits, Collection Repositories Improvement and Research Facilities Enhancement at Pakistan Museum of Natural History, PMNH; (11) Competitive Research Programme; (12) Launching of STEM in Pakistan, Pahse-I; (13) Monitoring the Sea Water Intrusion, Sea Level Rise, Coastal Erosion and Land Subsidence along Sindh and Balochistan Coast; (14) Strengthening of Oceanographic Research Sub Station Gwadar Pakistan; (15) Establishment of PAK-KOREA Testing Facility for PV Modules & Allied Equipment, PCRET; (16) Establishment of Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PM&E) Cell in Ministry of Science and Technology; (17) Certification Incentive Program for SMEs under PQI Initiative 2025; (18) Establishment of “National Centre of Failure Analysis (NCFA); and (19) Quality Seed Production and Supply to the Farming Community for Ensuring Food Security in Pakistan.
2. After detailed deliberation, the Committee endorsed all the projects mentioned above and directed that they should be completed within the time frame.
The MNAs namely Ms. Shahnaz Saleem Malik, Ms. Seema Mohi-Ud-Din Jamili, Makhdoom Tahir Rashid Ud-Din, Mr. Irfan Ali Leghari, and the Secretary M/o Science & Technology, besides other senior officials of the ministry and its attached departments, attended the meeting.
