The Standing Committee on Water Resources meets

The 11th meeting of the Standing Committee on Water Resources was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ahmad Atteeq Anwer, MNA at 11:00 a.m in Committee Room No.7, 4th Floor, Parliament House, Islamabad. The Hon. Chairman welcomed all the participants and afterwards decided to proceed as per agenda.
 
The Committee, after thorough deliberation, approved the ongoing projects of the Ministry of Water Resources. In its observations, the Committee emphasized that any issues pertaining to the Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) in Sindh must be addressed on a priority basis through close coordination between federal and provincial representatives. It stressed that such matters should be resolved amicably and without delay.

Furthermore, the Committee recommended that comprehensive information regarding the employees recruited under the Kachhi Canal Project including their complete details and domicile status, be furnished to the Committee at the earliest opportunity. This measure, the Committee noted, is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in the recruitment practices.

In addition, the Committee recommended that a detailed briefing be provided on the Pat Feeder Canal Project, recognizing it as a significant federal initiative for the province of Baluchistan. The Committee underscored the importance of this project in addressing water resource challenges in the region and called for a full update on its progress, scope and implementation strategy.

The following MNA’s namely, Mr. Mian Khan Bugti, Ms. Shamaila Rana, Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani (on zoom), Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Behan, Ms. Shazia Marri, Mian Muhammad Mueen Watto (Federal Minister for Water Resources) besides the officials of the Ministry of Water Resources attended the meeting.
