Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting met

Islamabad: February 17, 2026; Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting has approved the budgetary proposals of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for PSDP 2026-27, comprising of total 14 projects with proposed allocation of Rs.12.831 billion. The Committee met at Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Islamabad this morning under the Chairmanship of Mr. Pullain Baloch, MNA to discuss agenda relating to PSDP of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and its associated public bodies. 
 
The Committee while according approval to the proposals asked the Finance and Planning Divisions to accord priority to these projects and make timely financial releases enabling the Ministry to initiate and complete the projects. 
 
The Committee after detailed briefing by the Heads of departments, approved the project-wise budgetary proposals for PSDP 2026-27 as submitted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and recommended that the same shall be shared with M/o Planning and Development for inclusion in the PSDP 2026-27. The Committee also recommended that the Ministry of Planning and Development should ensure allocation/release of the required funds to M/o Information & Broadcasting for completion of six ongoing projects.  
 
The Committee underscored the need for understanding the nature of the budgetary proposals which mostly relate to procurement of equipment and the projects get delayed if the finances were provided in piecemeal since equipment could not be procured in parts.
 
The schemes proposed by the Ministry for PSDP 2026-27 mainly focused on
Up-gradation of Pakistan Television Corporation, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation softening of Pakistan's global image through media coordination and youth engagement AI Strategic communication trainings to officers of the Information Group and media persons Solarization of PBC and PTVC in selective stations for sustainable cost effective operations 
 
Moreover, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also informed that six projects will be completed during current financial year 2025-26 subject to timely release of an amount of Rs.2.929 Billion by the M/o Planning, Development & Special Initiatives.   
 
The meeting was attended by MNAs; Mr. Nadeem Abbas, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Ms. Kiran Haider, Ms. Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Ms. Sehar Kamran, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and other officers of departments under Ministry.
