The Pakistan–Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), under the convenership of Syed Rafiullah, MNA, held a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan at the Parliament House, Islamabad.

Welcoming the delegation, the Convener recalled that Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize Uzbekistan’s independence. He noted that since then, bilateral relations have steadily expanded across politics, economy, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges, reflecting a shared vision for deeper cooperation and regional prosperity. He emphasized the importance of greater parliamentary exchanges to further strengthen linkages and highlighted constructive collaboration between the two countries in multilateral forums such as the SCO, ECO, OIC, and the UN.
 
The PFG stressed that enhanced parliamentary engagement would play a vital role in fostering cultural, educational and economic cooperation, while contributing to long-term regional peace and stability.
 
On behalf of the Uzbek delegation, Mr. Maksudbek Kurbonboyev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Economic Affairs acknowledged the kind invitation and warm hospitality of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. He also recalled Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to Uzbekistan, which served as a landmark occasion resulting in the signing of 80 agreements . The Chair observed that Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and historical sites bear deep similarities with Uzbekistan’s own traditions, underscoring common historical roots.
 
He emphasized the need to translate agreements into practical outcomes, enhance people-to-people linkages and expand parliamentary cooperation. He reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest, noting that parliamentary diplomacy remains an essential channel for building understanding and cooperation.
 
Both sides reaffirmed their determination to work together for the effective implementation of agreements signed between the two countries.
 
From Pakistan’s side, the Parliamentary Friendship Group was represented by MNAs Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Dr. Shahida Rehmani, Ms. Shahnaz Saleem Malik, Ms. Natasha Daultana, Ms. Sofia Saeed Shah and Haji Rasool Bux Chandio. 
 
The Uzbek side was represented by Mr. Maksudbek Kurbonboyev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Economic Affairs (Chair); Mr. Bakhtiyor Pulatov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection; Ms. Sevara Ubaydullayeva, Member of the Committee on Labor, Health and Social Affairs; and Mr. Navruzbek Yusupov, Member of the Committee on the Development of Democratic Institutions and Civil Society.
