Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs meets

Tuesday, 23rd September, 2025
Islamabad, 23rd September, 2025 - A meeting of the Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, MNA, in Committee Room No. 7 (4th Floor), Parliament House, Islamabad.

2. The Secretary briefed the Committee on the Annual Performance Report of the Prime Minister’s Public Affairs and Grievance Wing. The Wing was initially established to promptly address public grievances on a consistent and steadfast basis. Following the Committee’s recommendations, the Wing restructured its operational framework to enhance efficiency. As a result, the Wing experienced significant growth receiving a total of 17,975 complaints and achieving an impressive resolution rate of 96%. This represents a remarkable increase of 189% compared to the baseline year 2022-23, during which 6,356 complaints were registered, and a notable rise from the 9,501 complaints recorded in 2023-24.
3. The Committee was apprised that in a strategic effort to further strengthen grievance redressing mechanism, the Ministry launched the Public Grievance Management System (PGMS) in September 2024. This three-pronged system aims to enhance complaint handling efficiency, expand outreach on a national level, and leverage grievance data analytics to facilitate evidence-based policy formulation.

4. The Committee further recommends that the Ministry identify the departments against which the Prime Minister’s Public Affairs and Grievance Wing receives the highest number of complaints. This will enable the Committee to prioritize these departments in future engagements, ensuring targeted efforts to provide maximum relief to the public.

5. The Committee deferred the Election (Amendment) Bill 2025 due to the unavailability of the Mover.

5. The meeting was attended by MNAs Raja Qamar-ul-Islam, Ch. Mahmood Bashir Virk, Ms. Gulnaz Shahzadi, Ms. Shazia Fareed, Syed Ali Musa Gilani, Mr. Malik Shah, Ms. Izbal Zehri, Mr. Naveed Aamir, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan and Mr. Hameed Hussain.
