Islamabad, January 21, 2025 – A significant step forward in fostering Pakistan-Spain bilateral relations was taken today as Syed Ali Musa Gillani, MNA, Convener of Pakistan-Spain Parliamentary Friendship Group convened a productive meeting with His Excellency Mr. Jose A. de Ory, Ambassador of Spain to Pakistan. The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The session was attended by Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, MNA, Mr. Muhammad Azhar Khan Leghari, MNA Syed Hafeezuddin, MNA Ms. Asia Naz Tanoli, MNA Ms. Rana Ansar, MNA, Ms. Izbal Zehri and senior officers from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Ministry of Commerce. Discussions revolved around deepening collaboration in diverse sectors, including trade, education, tourism, cultural exchange, and promoting bilateral relations between two countries through Parliamentary Diplomacy.

During the meeting, Mr. Gillani emphasized the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and Spain, highlighting shared values and mutual respect as the foundation of their relationship. “Spain is an important p artner for Pakistan in Europe. Our bilateral ties, strengthened by people-to-people connections, hold immense potential for further growth,” Mr. Gillani stated. He appreciated Spain's consistent support for Pakistan in securing and maintaining the GSP+ status, which has been instrumental in boosting Pakistan's exports to the European Union.
His Excellency Mr. Ory expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Spain’s dedication to enhancing ties with Pakistan. “Spain values its partnership with Pakistan and looks forward to expanding cooperation in various fields. The role of parliamentary diplomacy is vital in achieving this,” he remarked.
Both sides agreed on the need to bolster economic ties through increased trade and investment opportunities. Discussions also focused on promoting tourism and cultural exchanges, with a shared commitment to facilitating people-to-people contact.
The meeting concluded with the reaffirmation of the mutual resolve to strengthen parliamentary and diplomatic engagement to further solidify Pakistan-Spain relations. Both sides agreed to enhance parliamentary exchanges to strengthen the already existing bilateral ties between Pakistan and Spain.
