Islamabad, 13th August, 2020; 11th meeting of the Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, National Heritage & Culture was held on 13th August, 2020 at 11:00 a.m in National Curriculum Council, H-9, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Hon. Main Najeeb Ud Din Awaisi, MNA.
2.    The Committee discussed the Point of order raised by Mr. Ali Nawaz Awan, MNA against non implementing the Orders of Supreme Court regarding freezing of Private Schools’ fees by Private Schools Association. The Committee expressed its concern over the issue and directed the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) to ensure the implementation of Supreme Courts’ decision within 15 days. The Committee further directed that all Cambridge Schools may be registered with Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and to display/upload list of all unregistered schools on their website for awareness of general public.

3.    Mr. Shafqat Mahmood, Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, National Heritage & Culture briefed the Committee on functioning of National Curriculum Council Secretariat and appraised that Single National Curriculum (SNC) one system of Education for all, in terms of Curriculum, medium of instruction and a common platform of assessment so that all children have a fair and equal opportunity to receive high quality education. SNC is a step forward in that direction.

4.    He further informed that SNC has been approved with the consent of provinces, Army Public Schools and Pakistan Air Force Schools. The SNC will be enforced in three different Phases. The first phase will be enforced for Classes 1-5 in March 2021. Whereas the second phase for classes 6-8 and third phase for classes 9-12 will be enforced in March 2022 and March 2023, respectively.

5.     The Committee unanimously passed “The National College of Arts Institute Bill, 2020” as referred to the Standing Committee.
