Islamabad July 15, 2020: The National Assembly of Pakistan will be hosting meetings of the following four Task Forces on 16th July 2020.

i. Task Force on clearance of Afghan bound container traffic
ii. Task Force on Liberalizing border trade and Visa regime with Afghanistan
iii. Task Force to discuss incidence of high custom demurrage
iv. Task Force on Tracking and Scanning of containers on arrival and departure from Pakistan

On the invitation of the Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Asad Qaiser the meetings will inter alia be attended by the Defence Minister, Chief Minister of KPK, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Establishment, Parliamentarians, Pakistan’s Special Envoy to Afghanistan and relevant Federal Secretaries, Chief Secretaries of KPK and Baluchistan and other relevant stakeholders.

Task Forces will deliberate on long term solutions of the issues involved and would prepare recommendations for final submission to the Honorable Speaker National Assembly.

The meetings are in line with the vision of the Hon. Speaker National Assembly to improve transit trade, commerce and people-to-people contact with the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the mutual benefit of Pakistanis and Afghans.

The core objective of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups is to augment existing cordial relations between Pakistan and other friendly states.
