NA Standing Committee on Postal Services meets

Islamabad, 5th December, 2019; 5thmeeting of the Standing Committee on Postal Services was held today under the Chairmanship of Haji Imtiaz Ahmed Choudhary, MNA. The meeting started with recitation from the Holy Quran.
 
2.  The Director General, Pakistan Post, briefed about the previous recommendations of Standing Committee meetings. It was informed the Committee that Pakistan Post is implementing the recommendations of the Committee in letter and spirit. The Pakistan Post provided the list of Government departments/Organizations which are not using the service of Pakistan Post. The Committee recommended that as per direction of Prime Minister of Pakistan all government/semi government/autonomous bodies and government organization send their mail via their Postal Services.

3.  The Committee considered “The Pakistan Postal Services Management Board (Amendment) Bill, 2019” and deferred it till next meeting on the request of Ministry of Law and Justice.

4.  The Director General, informed the Committee in-detail about encroachment on buildings/land of Pakistan Post in all Pakistan. The Committee recommended to provide the agreement detail regarding the plot of I.I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi which is joint property of PTCL and Pakistan Post. The Committee recommended that Pakistan Post may take action for transfer of his part of plot with Revenue Department, Karachi immediately.

5.  He informed that Postal Life Insurance is working as an integral part of Pakistan Post, as an agency function on behalf of Ministry of Finance and established in 1884. This department is managed by Director General through two General Managers at Lahore and Karachi. He informed that Postal Life Insurance (PLI) is operating on “no profit no loss” basis. The Committee recommended to provide the list of deaths/injuries claims and amount paid to affecties passenger of Pakistan Railways during journey paid by the Postal Life Insurance. 

6.   The Committee directed to call the Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) to brief on Saving Bank function in the next meeting.

7.   Hon. Members/MNAs Ch. Shoukat Ali Bhatti, Ms. Rukhsana Naveed, Ms. Munawara Bibi Baloch, Syed Javed Husnain, Syed Abrar Ali Shah, Mr. Muhammad Anwar, attended the meeting besides the senior officers from the Ministry of Postal Services and its attached department along with their staff.
