Islamabad, 8th July, 2019: A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges was held today at 2:00 p.m in Committee Room No. 2, Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, MNA.

1.             On the Question of Privilege raised by Ch. Abid Raza, MNA, regarding implicating the Hon. Member in a false politically motivated case in Kakarali Police Station, Gujrat by registering a fabricated FIR against him and alleged attempt by Mian Tahir Bashir, SP, Headquarter and Mian Muhamamd Arshad, DSP alongwith police force to forcibly occupy his property, the Committee unanimously decided that the R.P.O Gujranwala should further inquire into the matter, prepare the report for the Committee and satisfy the Hon. Member. However, the Committee pended this Question of Privilege till its next meeting.

2.             On the Question of Privilege raised by Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, MNA regarding baseless and fabricated story concocted against the prestige of him for defamation amongst the public through Media in his absence by Mr. Tahir Ahmed Khan, Chief MEPCO, Multan, Mr. Umar Lodhi, Superintendent Engineer, Mr. Shahzad Rahi, XEN Shujabad Division, Raja Arif, SDO, Shujabad, Mr. Muhammad Mubashir, Line Superintendent, Mr. Muhammad Qamar, Assistant Lineman and Mr. Muhammad Khalid, LD against the Hon. Member, the Committee expressed its displeasure for not attending the meeting by Secretary, M/o Energy (Power Division), M.D PEPCO, C.E.O MEPCO and other Officers of MEPCO and directed them to attend the next meeting of the Committee in person. However, the Committee pended this Question of Privilege till its next meeting.

3.             The Committee disposed of the Question of Privileges raised by Mr. Faiz Ullah and Mr. Attaullah, MNAs.

4.             On the issue of Air Tickets and vouchers to the Hon. Members and the conversion of those Air Tickets into credit cards, the Committee pended the issue till its next meeting with the direction to the PIA management to resolve the Question and Queries raised by the Hon. Members. However, the Committee pended this Question of Privilege till its next meeting.

5.             On the issue of Health facilities for the Hon. Parliamentarians, the Committee unanimously decided to appoint a Sub-Committee. It was also decided that the said Sub-Committee would also look into the issues and problems being faced by the Hon. Parliamentarians in Parliament Lodges regarding CDA. 

6.       On the amendment moved by Mr. Salahuddin Ayubi, MNA, regarding the suspension of the proceedings of the National Assembly for namaz, the Committee unanimously agreed to approve the amendment as per proposal given by Additional Secretary (Legislation) of the National Assembly.

7.       The Committee pended the amendments moved by Ms. Shazia Marri and Dr. Nafisa Shah, MNAs till its next meeting of the Committee.

8.       The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meetings held on 18th April and 9th May, 2019.

9.             The meeting was attended by Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Ms. Ghulam Bibi, Mr. Nawab Sher, Mr. Khuram Shehzad, Makhdomzada Syed Basit Ahmed Sultan, Mr. Muhammad Sajjad, Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani, Mr. Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha, Mr.Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhary, Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jillani, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, MNAs. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan, MNA/Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Ch. Abid Raza and Mr. Faiz Ullah, Mr. Salahuddin Ayubi and Mr. Attaullah, MNA/Movers.
