3rd meeting of the Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was held today

Islamabad the 26th February, 2019: 3rd meeting of the Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was held in Committee Room No. 7, Parliament House, at 2:30 pm under the Chairmanship of Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi, MNA. The agenda of the meeting is given as under;-

                                     Comprehensive briefing on the working of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), its performance in the past five years, acquisition of Shipping vessels and recruitments policy vis-à-vis new recruitments done, violation  of any rules in this regard.

2.         The Committee was told by the Minister for Maritime Affairs - Syed Ali Haider Ziadi that the Shipping Policy is being revised with a new outlook and incentives. A summary in this regard will soon be submitted before Economic Coordination Council (ECC). The said shipping policy will address the woes of importers, exporters and persons attached with the Shipping Industry. The Standing Committee recommended that Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) should be given preferential treatment by the Government for the cargo related business and imports including crude oil should be imported through PNSC. Regarding the recruitment policy the Committee showed dissatisfaction over the recent advertisement for jobs in the news papers. The Committee desired to have complete details of recruitment policy and whether the quota has been observed in this regard.

3.         The meeting was attended by Syed Ali Haider Zaidi Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs and MNAs, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Mr. Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Mr. Faheem Khan,  Mr. Saif Ur Rehman, Mr. Abdul Shakoor Shad, Mir Khan Muhmmad Jamali, Ms. Nuzhat Pathan, Mr. Lal Chand, Ms. Shahnaz Naseer Baloch, Mr. Usama Qadri, Mr. Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Mr. Jam Abdul Karim Bijar, Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel, Mr. Kamal Uddin, Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz  Babar, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Mr. Kesoo Mal Khaeeal Das along with Senior Officers of the Ministry.
