The Secretary, Planning Commission informed the Committee that we only compile the reports of MDGs collecting data from different surveys done by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). After approval of 18th amendment most of the subjects of these Goals relating to health issues have been sent to the Provinces. Lots of problems are faced in collecting the information on health targets because on Federal level health related department has been divided in to different Divisions after approval of 18th amendment. There is a need of strong co-ordination with provinces along with Finance Division.
The Committee had a concern about collection of data for the indicators of the MDGs through different surveys and asked the Ministry to establish a proper mechanism to collect the data from urban and rural areas with understanding of the Provinces. The Committee said there should be a proper registration on every death or birth, for the betterment in the procedure of data collection. The Chairperson asked that in next meeting representative from Provinces and Ministry of Finance should also come.
