NA Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication meets

Islamabad, 08th February 2018: The 31st meeting of the Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication was held under the Chairmanship of Capt. (Retd) Muhammad Safdar, MNA.

2.     The meeting was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The Committee decided to proceed with the given agenda.

3.     The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its two previous meetings held on 24th October, 2017 and 11th December, 2017.

4.     The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication tabled the status of previous recommendations given by the Standing Committee, but the Committee directed that in the next meeting all the heads of the Cellular companies must be attended the Committee meeting and be brief the Committee about the status of their issued Cell Phone Sims, working Internet 3G & 4G service and installed “Antina Tower” across the country.

5.     The Committee considered the proposed PSDP for the financial year 2018-19 of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and its attached departments/organizations. After thorough consideration the Committee unanimously approved the proposed PSDP for the financial year 2018-19.

6.     The Committee also considered the report of the Sub-Committee appointed under the Convener-ship of Ms. Farhana Qamar, MNA and approved unanimously.

7.     The Committee took up and listening the alleged audio tape of supply of Rs. 50 million to the leader of Faizabad Dharna etc. The Committee showed its grievances on such type of discussion which was viral on social media. The Committee directed Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to investigate the matter through F.I.A, P.T.A and I.B and submit its detail report within 10 days. 

8.     The Hon. MNAs/Member Mian Muhammad Farooq, Ms. Farhana Qamar, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Engineer Dawar Khan Kundi and Ch. Muhammad Tufail were attended the meeting besides the senior officers from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and its attached departments/organizations with their staff.
