Islamabad, 3rd January, 2018: 47th meeting of the Standing Committee on Defence Production was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr.Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, MNA.

2.       The meeting started with recitation from the Holy Quran. Then, the Committee decided to proceed with the agenda.

3.       The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 28-12-2017.

4.       Before proceeding with the agenda the committee strictly condemned the statement of the President of United State of America Mr. Donald Trump. It was observed by the committee that as the Pakistan is independent sovereign state hence no one shall be allowed to interfere in the internal and external affairs of the state. On this issue Pakistani nation and the armed forces are on the same page. Statement of the President of United State of America is the part and parcel of the internal and external intrigues to destabilize the Pakistan. Twenty six million Dollars are not the blood money / consideration for the sacrifices made by the nation in war against terrorism. Committee unanimously declared that Pakistan does not requires any such aid/funds as a cost of the sacrifices.

7.       Representative of Karachi Ship and Engineering Works (KS & EW) Public Limited Company established in 1956 presented detailed briefing about Fast Attack Craft (Missile) No. 3 (for Pakistan Navy) and the working and progress of the company. Committee was briefed about Ship Building Projects, Ship Repairing Department, General Engineering Department, Financial Overview, Profit and Tax, Accumulated (Loss & Profit), Upgradation Projects with Budget Overview, Progress of Civil Works, EPC Turnkey Contract, Infrastructure upgradation of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works LTD, Establishment of New Shipyard in Gawader etc. Committee was also briefed about Global Business Prospects and integration with CPEC. Committee appreciated the efforts, progress and working of the Karachi Ship and Engineering Works (KS & EW) Public Limited Company. Committee also appreciated the efforts and dedication of the Ministry for making the said institution as profitable with recommendation to upgrade the plant according to the International needs and new technology to compete at International level.

8.       Hon. Chairman/Members Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, MNA, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, MNA, Chaudhary Hamid Hameed, MNA, Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah, MNA, Mr. Shah Jahan Baloch, MNA and Mr. Bilal Rehman, MNA attended the meeting besides the Hon. Minister senior officers from the Ministry of Defence Production with their staff.
