Islamabad, 29th December, 2017: 23nd meeting of the Standing Committee on Railways was held today in Committee Room No 2, Parliament House, Islamabad under the chairmanship of Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA, Chairman of the Committee.

2.    The meeting started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The Committee confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 04th December, 2017.


3.    The Committee was briefed about encroachment on railway land. It was informed by the Ministry that 3698.814 Acres of railway land has been retrieved/regularized till date. Railways Engineering Code is used to determine valuation of land. The Ministry also informed that some variation is expected in figures after automation of record.

4.     The Committee rued lack of initiative by Ministry on the issue of encroachment. The committee directed Ministry to furnish it with final and exact figures on retrieved encroached land, its possession and policy governing the entire issue.

5.    The Hon. Members/MNA’s Sardar Muhamad Irfan Dogar, Mr. Rasheed Ahmed Khan, Dr Nisar Ahmad Jatt, , Mr. Amjad Ali Khan, Mr Sajid Ahmed Mr. Ramesh Lal and Ms. Naseema Hafeez Panezai attended the meeting besides the senior officers from the Ministry of Railways along with their staff.
