A meeting of the Standing Committee on Industries and Production was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Asad Umar, MNA in Committee room No. 7, Parliament House, Islamabad.

The Standing Committee not only discussed the matter about Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Karachi regarding release of Provident Fund and Gratuity Fund to 3500 retired employees of PSM but also recommended that this issue must be solved on priority basis.

The Standing Committee also discussed the implementation status on the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Industries & Production given in its meeting held on 13th July, 2017 regarding Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company (PGJDC), Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) and recommended to call representatives of Marble Association of Pakistan and State Bank of Pakistan in the next S/Cmeeting.

The Standing Committee further discussed the matter regarding Al-Tawairqi Steel Mills Karachi, on proposal for restarting Al-Tuwairqi plant in Port Qasim and recommended to follow up the said proposal.
