Islamabad, 25th October, 2017; 45th meeting of the Standing Committee on Information Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage was held today under the Chairmanship of Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, MNA.
2.The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Then, the Committee decided to proceed with the agenda.
 
3.The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meetings held on 20th July, 2017 and 28th September, 2017.
 
4.The Committee considered “The Protection of Journalists Bill, 2014” (moved by Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, MNA) in detail and decided to constitute a Sub-Committee under rule 224 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 under the Convenership of Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, MNA on the said Bill. The Committee also considered “The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2017” (moved by Dr. Fouzia Hameed, MNA) and after detail deliberation decided that the Bill may not be passed by the Assembly. The Committee also considered the “Redistributive Land Reforms Bill, 2017” (moved by Mr. S.A. Iqbal Quadri, MNA) and decided that the Bill may be deferred till its next meeting.
 
5.The briefing by National History and Literary Heritage Division for preservation of National History and Heritage was deferred by the Committee due to the non-availability of Mr.Irfan Siddiqui, Advisor to the Honourable Prime Minister.
 
6.The Hon. Members/MNA/Mover Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, Mr. Waseem Akhtar Shaikh, Ms. Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Ms. Zeb Jaffar, Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, Ms. Arifa Khalid Parvez, Ch. Muhammad Tufail, Dr. Muhammad Azhar Khan Jadoon, Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah and Dr. Fouzia Hameed, MNA attended the meeting, besides Minister of State, senior officers of the Ministry of Information Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage, officers of PEMRA attended the meeting.
