National Assembly Standing Committee On States And Frontier Regions (Safron) Meets

Islamabad, the 12th September, 2017: A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) met today in Parliament House, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Jamal ud Din, MNA. The Committee discussed the issue of recruitment in Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) of domicile holders other than FATA in detail. The Committee strongly recommended to the Ministry of Power to relax/change the policy of recruitment for FATA candidates and recruit FATA locals in TESCO as the FATA local will perform their duties in better way than the non locals. The Committee further directed the Director General, FDMA to appoint local in development projects in FATA.

2.         The Committee also discussed the Mines issue raised during meeting that around 50 locals in South Waziristan Agency martyred due to Mines in the area. The Committee urged the Federal Government/Ministry of SAFRON to look into the matter of public urgent importance and take appropriate action to search and defuse the Mines and save the lives of the FATA people.

3.         The meeting was also attended by Mr. Muhammad Nazir Khan, Ms. Surraiya Jatoi, Mr. Qaiser Jamal, Ms. Ayesha Gulalai, Mr. Nasir Khan and Mr. Muhammad Kamal Malik MNAs and Minister for States and Frontier Regions and Officers/Officials of the Ministry.
