NA Standing Committee on Communications meets

Lowari Tunnel will remain operational for traffic during coming winter.

NHA should timely complete work on Hassan Abdal – Hawelian Motorway. 

Delay in completion on Peshawar Northern By-Pass will not be acceptable. Standing Committee

Islamabad (                             ) Lowari Tunnel will remain operational for traffic during coming winter. NHA should complete work on Hassan Abdal – Hawelian Motorway. Delaying of completion on Peshawar Northern By-Pass shall not be acceptable. These announcements were made in today’s meeting of Standing Committee of National Assembly on Communications.  It was told to the Committee that HassandAbdal – Hawelian Motorway will be operational by December, 2017. It was informed NHA wanted to complete the project by August, 2017 but it is not possible because of heavy rain. Committee directed to the Ministry for completion of project on time. Committee also directed for timely completion of Hawelian – Mansehra and Mansehra – Thakot road.

 It was told to the Committee that construction of Peshawar Northern By-Pass has been divided into 4 Phases, Phase-1, from M-1 to Charsadda, had already been completed earlier. Remaining work on other phases will be completed on time as work is in process. Committee also directed that in case of delay by D.C. Peshawar or provincial government, Eng. Hamid-ul-Haq Khalil and Usman Khan Tarkai may help by playing their roles, but no more delay is acceptable. Committee directed the NHA for preparing of the feasibility report about Southern By-Pass. It was also told to the members that Topi – Sawabi – Mardan road is 62 km long and connects important citiesand six districts to Peshawar. The public is facing problems because it is one-line road. Committee advised to connect this road with grand trunk road and check the possibilities for making it dual road on BOT basis. Committee appointed Usman Khan Tarkai to get latest update from provincial government.
 
The meeting was presided over by PTI’s MNA, Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq Khalil, whereas, Members National Assembly including Mr. Sarzameen, Mr. Mir Shabir Ali Bijarani, Mr. SaleemRehman, Mr. Usman Khan Tarkai and Ms. ShahjehanMunirMangrio attended the meeting. Similarly, the meeting was attended by Minister of State for Communications, Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwar, Secretary, Communications SadiqMemon and several senior civil officers.
