Islamabad, 26th July, 2017: A meeting of the Standing Committee on Textile Industry was held today in Committee Room of Ministry of Textile Industry,(1st Floor), Evacue Trust Complex, Agha Khan Road, Sector F-5/1 Islamabad. The meeting was chaired by Khawaja Ghulam Rasool Koreja, MNA. The Committee discussed the following Agenda:-

i) Briefing on Lahore Garment City;

ii) Discussion on the current alarming situation of the Textile Industry and proposals/suggestions to cope with the situation

2. The Committee showed satisfaction over the improving situation of different projects going on under the umbrella of Lahore Garment City. The Committee praised the revenue performance which has reportedly exceeded Rs. 125 million over the period of last four (4) years, regarding the issues being faced by the Textile Sector and particularly by the value added segments of the Textile Industry. The Committee stress that appropriate measures should be taken. The Committee recommended that the Federal Government should provide electricity at subsidized rates to the small and medium level Textile Industry.

3. The following members of the Committee attended the meeting; Rana Umer Nazir Khan, Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Ms. Belum Hasnain, Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Mr. Aqib Ullah Khan, Mr. Abdul Rashid Godil,Mr. Jamshaid Ahmed Dasti, Col. (Retd.) Dr. Amirullah Marwat and Ms. Romina, Khurshid Alam, MNAs, Minister for Textile Industry and officers of the Ministry of Textile Industry.
