NA Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs meets

NA Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs met today i.e 5th April, 2017 at 11:00 a.m in PIPS Seminar Hall-2, PIPS Building Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mian Abdul Mannan, MNA.
 
The Committee offered prayers for the martyred of bomb blast incident occurred at Badian Road Lahore today, which causes casualties of valuable life of four army personnel and two civilians.
 
The Committee recommended to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for providing the details of parliamentarians, who have been submitted their assets declaration forms to ECP. The Committee decided to call the Secretary ECP in its next meeting for briefing on the election procedure and strengthening of ECP.
 
The Committee was informed by the Additional Secretary, ECP that delimitation is prerogative of ECP. He added that delimitation could be made by ECP in the month of September, 2017, if required. 
 
The Committee members have shown their concern on the limit defined by the ECP for election expenditures. They were of the view that it should be enhanced. A question was raised by the honourable member regarding permission of political rallies during the election days. The Additional Secretary, ECP replied that it could be considered after the consultations with political parties.
 
The Committee was of the firm opinion that each party and their leaders should be held responsible to reply the queries/questions made by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The Committee reiterated that dedicated ROs (staff) should be appointed for effective and efficient functioning of ECP.
 
The Committee unanimously decided that next meeting of the Committee would be convened on 18th or 19th April, 2017 on the same agenda.
 
Meeting was attended by Dr. Nisar Ahmad Jatt, Mian Tariq Mehmood, Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Ch. Salman Hanif Khan, Ms. Arifa Khalid Parvez, Ms. Shahida Rehmani, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Malik Ihtebar Khan and besides senior officers from Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, ECP, Ministry of Finance & Ministry of Law.
