Islamabad, 16th February, 2017: A meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence met today in Parliament House, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Shaikh Rohale Asghar, MNA. The Committee discussed the budgetary proposals of the Ministry of Defence relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2017-18 and approved alongwith the recommendation that the development project of Kamra Hospital regarding provision of modern equipments in the hospital as well as the project regarding accommodation facility for the Kamra employees should also be included in the PSDP for financial year 2017-18 respectively. The Committee recommended that the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform include the New Un-approved 49 projects estimated cost Rs. 9138.242 in the PSDP and also allocate the requisite funds for the on-going and new approved schemes in order to complete the development schemes in time.

2.         The Honorable Deputy Speaker, National Assembly also participated in the meeting. He expressed great displeasure over the poor response by the Ministry of Defence and pointed out that the Secretary, Ministry of Defence had assured to the Standing Committee in its meeting held on 3rd March, 2016 that funds would be provided by the ministry of Defence for the development schemes in the Civil abadi area of Cantonment Board, Havelian but he did not honor his commitment made before the Committee. Thereafter, the Additional Secretary-II, Ministry of Defence also assured the Committee that he will personally look into the matter and will inform the Honorable Deputy Speaker within one week.

3.         The meeting was also attended by Mr. Isphanyar M. Bhandara, Ms. Surriya Asghar, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Lt. Col. (Retd) Ghulam Rasul Sahi, Mr. Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais, Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Mr. Nawab Ali Wassan, Syed Mustafa Mehmud, Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari, Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, Mr. Sanjay Perwani and Mr. Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq MNAs and Officers/Officials of the Ministry.
