Islamabad, 16th February, 2017; 24th meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Babar Nawaz Khan, MNA.

2.         The meeting was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Then, the Committee decided to proceed with the given agenda. 

3.         Agenda Item No. i.

The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 13.02.2017.

4.         Agenda Item No. ii.

             The Secretary National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) briefed the Committee about their existing recruitment policy. However, the brief from the NCHR was not received to the Committee for advance study, therefore, the Committee showed its displeasure and directed to the Chairman, NCHR that necessary directions for this briefing had already been given to NCHR by the Committee but still NCHR did not bother to send the brief in time. Then, the Committee decided that a meeting with same agenda will be held in the first week of next month and directed to the Chairman, NCHR to make sure the attendance of all NCHR Members to attend the next meeting and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

5.         Agenda Item No. iii.

            The Chairperson, National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) briefed the Committee as per given agenda. The Committee appreciated the given briefing and directed that there should be established a female desk in approximately all police stations across the country, further, the Committee directed that we should have to do efforts for the comprehensive legislation for the transgender. 

6.         The Hon. MNAs/Members Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqub, Sayed Essa Nori, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Ms. Kiran Haider, Ms. Asiya Naz Tanoli, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Ms. Amra Khan, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Ms. Musarat Rafique Mahesar, Mr. Sajid Nawaz, Ms. Aliya Kamran Murtaza, Mrs. Naseema Hafeez Panezai were attended the meeting besides the senior officers from the Ministry of Human Rights, National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) and National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) with their staff.
